My poor poor arsehole (Tmi galore)

NaiceToMeetYou · 19/04/2019 21:14

I have ulcerative colitis and chronic constipation so it's all or nothing. I also have internal piles which have been unsuccessfully operated on, which bleed every day. To add to the above, I now have an ulcerated bloody anus Sad

It's a constant bloody battle. Blood, mucus, pain. Is it the colitis or the piles or the constipation? Are these ulcers colitis related or from too much wiping due to blood and mucus??

I know you can't answer and I need to show my arse to yet another doctor but aibu to want a bloody break from my stupid fucking defective arsehole?? Angry

Wowsers OP, please pass on my sympathies to your anus Confused I have absolutely nothing to offer apart from raw onions and tomatoes on everything. I don't know if that would irritate your colon though tbh. My friend had similar troubles and he was similarly good humoured about it. I really really hope it improves for you Flowers

BobBobBobbingAlong · 19/04/2019 23:41

Your poor bum. I've had some of these problems in the past (reaches for lump of wood) so I feel your pain.
I used to wash my bum with water and soft fabric wipes to help the skin around the anus. The cold wipe did offer some relief in itself.
But you have to have the stomach for dealing with the pooey wipes. IIRC it's called 'family cloth' if you want to google. But I just used the cloth wipes I'd used with my babies' cloth nappies.

rachb2019 · 20/04/2019 01:11

Your poor bottom! :(

I wish I had some better advice but the only thing I can say is try not to push too much when trying to go to the toilet. If it won't happen after a few minutes try again later.

Hope you feel better soon

Orangeballon · 20/04/2019 01:41

psyllium husk is great and natural, you will have a good poo every day with no pressure on the anus. You get it on line or in health stores. I mix it with a little water, tastes like sawdust mixed with water but just down it in one and you will have a lovely poo. Best taken in the morning. Takes about 24 hours to work.

NaiceToMeetYou · 20/04/2019 09:01

@Orangeballon I'll order some to try, thanks. I was having some success with a combination of linseed and chia actually but missing one day really does put you at square one.

@Kennehora are you getting treatment? That really does sound horrendous for you, puts mine into perspective. Please see your gp asap x

@Amongstthetallgrass is it the rolling chrons group? I'm a member but not had the courage to post without anonymity yet Grin

@NaiceToMeetYou For the constipation have you tried lactulose? I take it when I am 'bunged up' and it really helps.

Alternatively what about glycerine suppositories? If you put one up your bottom and I guarantee that within 20 minutes you'll be able to have a bowel movement. It's not completely perfect, but at least you will be able to get some relief, and you don't have to spend ages on the toilet :)

NaiceToMeetYou · 20/04/2019 21:17

@rachb2019 thanks but as I mentioned before, I gave up after 3 glycerine suppositories one after another, they did nothing. Lactulose does even less Grin

@NaiceToMeetYou Oh no! They've never let me down before when I have been constipated. Were you holding them in for long enough?

Try not to sit on the loo for too long if things won't happen though - five minutes max :)

AnnaMagnani · 20/04/2019 21:38

I bet your ulcers are related.

Have you tried sodium picosulfate? It is my 'when all else fails' of laxatives. Presumably you have already gone through Movicol sachets.

As you have already noted, the key with all of these is not to miss a day - you need to keep the bowel moving along. If you miss a day with your laxatives it slows down, and that gives it the opportunity to lose more water and everything to set like concrete.

AntiHop · 20/04/2019 21:45

So sorry op. I have some bum problems. More minor that yours, so sorry for moaning.
I've had fissures before and I'm pretty sure I have another in the last couple of days. It feels really burning and even hurts to fart! Feels really inflammed. Feel really miserable.

rachb2019 · 20/04/2019 22:42

@ChristmasHumper Is the problem that you need to go every day but can't, or is it more that you think you should go every day and so use the suppositories? If it is the latter - if you left it so that you were only going every two/three days or so, do you think you'd be able to get the urge and go to the toilet without the suppositories?

AhhhHereItGoes · 20/04/2019 23:05

Greatest sympathies. I had internal and external piles terribly for about 3 months after DD2. But at least their was an end in sight.
Sending you painless, lumpless vibes.

AhhhHereItGoes · 20/04/2019 23:06

Having IBS didn't help it either.

rachb2019 · 20/04/2019 23:08

@ChristmasHumper Poor you - I've heard about the dreaded rectocele problem. Have you tried different ways of sitting on the toilet? I think raising your feet up can help, or alternatively squatting rather than sitting on the seat. I think applying pressure to your perineum with some toilet roll can help to. How long does it normally take you to go each time? Five minutes? 30 minutes? Even longer?

slipperywhensparticus · 20/04/2019 23:14

I put pile cream on my tissue and wipe with it

AhhhHereItGoes · 20/04/2019 23:17

That's what I did too @slipperywhensparticus - squeezes a slightly smaller than toothpaste amount on tissue and massages in a circular motion. It felt nice at the time.

As I had a tear during giving birth had vulva/vaginal pains too so just dreaded the bathroom. 💐

Goldenphoenix · 20/04/2019 23:28

So sorry you are in such pain, sounds like misery. I have Crohn's so sympathise with your arse issues.
My problems are with going too often rather than being bunged up but highly recommend lidocaine gel for your bumhole, very numbing and excellent temporary relief.
Have you tried CBD oil? Am tempted to give it a go for my symptoms

Persimmonn · 20/04/2019 23:50

I sympathise op. I’ve had a dodgy butt hole since the birth of dc2. I’m 95% sure my perenium was sewed up incorrectly after ripping and somehow the stitches got to my anus and rectum, even though it was only a second degree tear. Weeks after, I felt like there was an obstruction in my passage, and it was much much tighter than before. Then stitches started falling out of my back passage. Anyway, that was it. I’ve never been the same at the back again.

I have internal piles and Chronic anal fissures. I have to hold and press my cheeks when I poo so I don’t rip again, otherwise it feels like I’m pooing out glass.

I don’t think I’ve had a satisfactory poo in 7 years.

AlunWynsKnee · 21/04/2019 00:01

I have UC but the ulcers sound more like a friend who was misdiagnosed with all sorts before Crohns. Have they considered that?
