My poor poor arsehole (Tmi galore)

I have ulcerative colitis and chronic constipation so it's all or nothing. I also have internal piles which have been unsuccessfully operated on, which bleed every day. To add to the above, I now have an ulcerated bloody anus Sad

It's a constant bloody battle. Blood, mucus, pain. Is it the colitis or the piles or the constipation? Are these ulcers colitis related or from too much wiping due to blood and mucus??

I know you can't answer and I need to show my arse to yet another doctor but aibu to want a bloody break from my stupid fucking defective arsehole?? Angry

Are you medicated OP? I’m on humira (for something different) but it’s used to treat UC.
I think your arse ulcers are probably related (even if not to the UC, 1 autoimmune condition is usually followed by another because you know, 1 feels lonely 🙄🙄)

Seriously though, see if you are eligible for humira. Inflammation left untreated/not properly treated can cause other pretty shitty things

I had vulval ezcema for 7 months that spread to my arse.

It was so depressing. Peeing hurt like fuck, wiping felt like I was wiping with razor wire.

Even now, few years later I can mini flare ups. Thank god for savlon cream.

mummymayhem18 · 19/04/2019 22:10

Oh I hear ya! Have chronic bottom problems as well as stomach/bladder conditions. I have had piles and fissures. But i seem to get really sore once I've been for a Bowel movement and then I'm in pain all day. It's not just the actual anus it's the skin around it gets really sore and can feel like it's tearing. I have lots of different creams but can't really seem to get to the cause of it. I'm so fed up with it all so I completely understand and I'm sorry you are suffering as well. X

NaiceToMeetYou · 19/04/2019 22:10

I was on mesalazine but weaned off it after a few months symptom free.

No advice sorry but my dh has similar problems with his chrons and it's horrible, I hope things get better for you Thanks

StayingWithAuntySue · 19/04/2019 22:12

NO SUDOCREM ! Ouch! To all people suggesting it - have you actually tried it on your own sore bottom, it really nips and poor babies can't tell us
OP smear of Vaseline every single time you go.
Thanks

NaiceToMeetYou · 19/04/2019 22:12

Very sorry yet strangely comforted by everyone elses arse problems Flowers

Absolutely agree - chronic constipation cannot be cured with prunes and stuff -even Moviprep can't clear these bowels out. My last colonoscopy was poo central.

SaraRyder · 19/04/2019 22:14

Op try Savlon cream. I get little tears around my anus sometimes that can hurt. Salvon really helps.

PiggyPlumPie · 19/04/2019 22:19

This is timely. I also have UC and have piles for the first time. The steroids I gave just started taking because I thought I was flaring have not kicked in as quickly as usual.

Had the thought today that it could be the piles bleeding rather than the UC - but how do I tell?

Bacardi101 · 19/04/2019 22:20

Op I can’t imagine the level of discomfort your in it sounds horrific! I have chronic constipation and feel like my day resolved around when I last took a shit and if I need laxatives/suppository/s! And I agree I can go most of a bag of prunes with out so much of a gurgle!

DameDoom · 19/04/2019 22:22

Do not try to jazz your arsehole up for a scope date like I did. The Veet-induced pure ags was not worth it.

twomadefour · 19/04/2019 22:29

Try washing instead of wiping and gently tap the area dry and anusol.
My husband swear by it.
It's amazing stuff

DustyGrapevine · 19/04/2019 22:31

I had some internal and some dangly piles removed a few years ago. Hospital sent me home with no pain relief. Pain was excruciating and (gross warning) I even resorted to running a warm bath and poohing in there to try to ease the pain of crapping through an open wound. I went to my lovely GP and she prescribed Lidocaine gel. Oh my god, it was a lifesaver! It's a gel you put on your anus when you feel a pooh coming on. It stings for a millisecond then completely anaesthetises the whole..er..hole. It was an absolute lifesaver.

Scrumymum · 19/04/2019 22:34

I was a UC sufferer too.... mine was so bad it almost killed me (no exaggeration, I was minutes from death if my surgeon hadn't whipped out my large bowel). It was something I knew might happen, but in the end the operation was forced upon me, but my goodness, my quality of life afterwards went up a million percent. I had stoma and colostomy bag that I had to get used to, but I had my life back again. I was able to live again and not be in constant pain. The pain had been surgically removed! Many people can have a "reversal" done so you don't have to live with a bag forever.

Having your bowel removed is usually a last chance offer as it is so drastic, but I am on other chat forums where patients ask why they didn't do this years earlier to save all the pain and suffering they went through. Good luck, I know how you feel x

PinkGlitter123 · 19/04/2019 22:37

Colitis sufferer here too so I very much emphasis. Have had terrible rectal pain before.
Really hope you find some relief soon as I know how soul destroying and painful it is xx

NaiceToMeetYou · 19/04/2019 22:41

The trouble is, I don't know if it is UC related or not. I haven't had any diarrhoea for 2 years and that's pretty much the only symptom they look out for. Last time I went with watery discharge and mucus it was dx as constipation 'overflow'. A quick Google comes up with Solitary rectal ulcer syndrome so it could be completely unrelated. Probably not though, as TheTrollFairy mentioned, autoimmune diseases fuck you up in lots of different ways!

God, you poor people! I've been feeling really sorry for myself with some random mystery gut issue I've had since February. You guys are putting things nicely in perspective! Wishing you all the best of luck.

CookPassBabtridge · 19/04/2019 22:55

I'm sorry so many of you are suffering bumwise Thanks I've started getting a constantly sore bumhole. I'm just wondering, was there something specific that caused these issues for you all or is it just something that develops at random?

Amongstthetallgrass · 19/04/2019 23:00

My very good friend is part of a facebook group with this. If your interested I pass the details on x

theOtherPamAyres · 19/04/2019 23:01

Ulcerative colitis is a disease of the immune system. So is eczema and psoriasis.

When my UC went into remission, I developed eczema. The skin on my hands is now so thin that it will split and bleed at the slightest movement (like picking up a kettle).

Frankly, Sudocrem is no use whatsoever. It is very drying and makes the skin more susceptible to splits, I find. And it stings like buggery.

Maybe this is what is happening to your bum?
If so, I would smother the area with something like Epiderm mixed with just a smidgen of Sudocrem. Then, I would put a non-adhesive pad on a sanitary towel to cover the bumhole and lock in the creams.

It's a dreadful, dreadful disease and I send you and fellow sufferers Flowers

PinkGlitter123 · 19/04/2019 23:03

Ulcerative colitis starts in the rectum which is why so many of us experience pain and problems in that area

DameDoom · 19/04/2019 23:05

I have met loads of fabulous people in the UC/Chrons community. Never met a humourless one to date and I take that as a massive positive.

pollyglot · 19/04/2019 23:21

Just want to send thoughts and best wishes-I don't suffer myself, but had recurrent perianal ulcers years ago, and found the pain truly awful. You must be at your wits' end-I am so sorry.
