Ok I'm desperate. I've put a stone on. I've got a holiday coming up.

I'm old. Like nearly 50!

A colleague sells these shit C9 cleanse things and I'm bombarded with photos of before and after.
Yep. They work for 9 days. For sure. I need a kick start to weight loss and I'm prepared to shell out the £100 to do it.

I know it's a bloody con. But I'm ok with it to lose that first 10lb. After that I'll go it alone. I have done successfully before.

Anyone care
To enlighten me after a c9
Cleanse thing and how they did long term?

Ta

I’ve done a lot of cleanses/ juice fasts but nothing commercial.

Just do no wheat , dairy , meat, sugar for a few days, then just celery, pear carrot apple spinach etc juice and3+ litres of water a day for 3 to 8 days.( no smoothie, only juice). Then really slowly reintroduce good food.
It re-sets your appetite and you want to eat much les afterwards.
You save on food bills and the £100 on the commercial cleanse.
First day hard, by the 3rd day you have loads of energy.
There’s lots of info on the net about it.

Thanks this is one a colleague sells that's an aloe Vera cleanse.

I need to know what I'm allowed and not!

There's no such thing as a 'cleanse' for a start.

Those dreadful C9 things are hugely expensive and you'd be supporting the manipulative MLM industry. It's just crap shakes with loads of artificial ingredients and all you will lose is water weight with no idea how to then eat properly to ensure it domes go back on again

I'd recommend switching to low carb. No sugar, wheat or starchy veggies. Look at the low carb bootcamp on here for guidance. Or I'd highly recommend Micheal Moseleys the Fast Diet. That stone will be gone in a month.

Drink stacks of water.

Didntwanttochangemyname · 19/04/2019 21:20

Your body doesn't need a 'cleanse', that is what your liver and kidneys are for.

Just cut out carbs, sugar and eat lots of veg.

VeryLittleOwl · 19/04/2019 21:21

C9 as in the Forever Living aloe thing? I wouldn't believe a word of it (have a look at the MLM threads in the Money section).

You'd be better off saving your money and getting a copy of either Fast 800 or The 8-Week Blood Sugar Diet, both by Michael Mosley. I did the latter last summer when I wanted to shift a bit before a family wedding and lost a lot in the first week (think it was 8 or 9lbs).

Namechangeforthiscancershit · 19/04/2019 21:26

Nooooooo don't do the Forever Living thing.

NakedAvenger · 19/04/2019 21:27

Please please please don't do C9. It's Forever Living which is a manipulative network marketing scheme designed to make women part with vast quantities of money with the promise that they will be millionaires. Don't buy into it.

As PP have said. Micheal Mosley's the Fast Diet works a dream. I had 8lbs come off in the first week and at 2months I'm 1.5 stone down.

gotmychocolateimgood · 19/04/2019 21:29

Avoid c9 like the plague. The bad science behind the made by 'business owners' selling these is shocking. Ingesting aloe Vera juice, a laxative, and artificial shakes full of sweeteners, is not healthy or necessary to lose weight. A 'cleanse' is complete nonsense- you will not be removing toxins from your body. Your liver and kidneys do a great job if this for you. Any weight loss will be through dehydration and water loss. You can achieve weight loss through low calorie diet. Save yourself the extortionate £111 and buy a great swimsuit. Enjoy your holiday!

Sparklesocks · 19/04/2019 21:31

I don’t really understand them, your kidneys filter out all the bad stuff for you - you don’t need juice or syrupy water to do it.

hellenbackagen · 19/04/2019 21:43

Eeek ok....I actually have the Michael Moseley book but was just rubbish at
Sticking to it.

Look into the Ketogenic diet. It's a life choice. Very enjoyable way to eat. Stick to around 20g carbs a day. Essentially you will then cut out processed foods, sugar etc.
This way of eating: we eat fatty meats, full fat cream, cheese, olive oil, meat, fish. Loads of veg, not so much fruit.
Anyway... look it up ! If you have Netflix watch sugar pill documentary

youwillgo · 19/04/2019 22:18

Oh god, do not do it! I speak from experience (and a lot of wasted money), it is awful.

The aloe vera stuff you have to drink is absolutely vile. My sister and I both tried it before a holiday, my sister had to give up after a couple of days because she threw up every time she tried to drink it. I kept it up for 8 days, but it was pretty horrific.

And the results were pretty much as you might image. Yeah I lost a few pounds, but as soon as I starting eating normally again (not even overeating, or eating unhealthy foods) it went straight back on.
