This is very worrying and totally unfair, it is seeping into the Olympics, not just at a micro level (Transgender sports)

I have just read this, and it is totally unjust. It should be stopped, as biological males have advantage over biological women, if they were like Ursain Bolt, even more so.

The ruling on this is due in next week

Halloumimuffin · 19/04/2019 20:19

Caster Semenya isn't transgender, she is a biological female with abnormally high levels of testosterone.

arethereanyleftatall · 19/04/2019 20:35

I can't click the link for some reason, but semenya is female, was born female, is female, and is a completely different case from those born male, who decide they want to become female.

The thing is, it is already happening to women's sport, and the transgender lobby are very strong.

Yes I just saw that, however I hope that it does not open up the doors for transgender sportspeople, it is different, as Semenya is a biological woman and they are not.

What @Halloumimuffin said. You're conflating two issues here (as is Paula Radcliffe). I mean, I'm short and tend to stoutness. So should I insist that tall, naturally slimmer women be banned from sport or made to wear a fat suit to even things up? Because that's more akin to what is being proposed here.

MrsMaow · 19/04/2019 21:15

Some women have more testosterone than me which gives them an advantage

Some women are taller than me which gives them an advantage

Some women are more naturally predisposed to gain muscle than me which gives them an advantage

Etc....

Apollo440 · 19/04/2019 21:20

...you forgot, some are biological males. Which gives them an advantage

Aeroflotgirl · 20/04/2019 08:28

I misread the article and diden't realise Semenya was a biological lady she has every right to participate in women's sports. I feel that the rise of transwomen in women's sports is worrying, such as Rachel McKinnon and others. As TRAs start shouting louder and asserting their maleness into women's domain, it is going to increase.

OP posts:
araiwa · 20/04/2019 08:32

So it has nothing to do with trans

Yabu

Too busy frothing to read the article that is talking about a woman ffs

Aeroflotgirl · 20/04/2019 08:33

That is a worry, the fact that transwomen are allowed to participate in women's sport at all, is concerning, considering their obvious biological advantages. Where you have a transwomen competitor, they will always win over a biological women due to this.

Halloumimuffin, Semenya is not female. He is a biological male with standard male XY chromosomes, but suffers from a condition called androgen insensitivity, which makes his body appear female. His tissues do not respond to the testosterone he produces.
The arguments given by some PPs, that it’s ok for men to race against women because some women are taller or fitter than the PP are plainly ridiculous.
Why do they think we have separate female and male categories in sports in the first place? The top female athletes in the world would be beaten into 200th place by males, due to the physical advantages of male bodies.
Artificially lowering a transgender athlete’s testosterone level does nothing to drop their male cardiac output, lung capacity, oxygen uptake, pelvis and shoulder shape, etc.
Women’s sport will be completely destroyed if transgender biological males are allowed to take part. As soon as one of them does so in an Olympic team, every other nation will have to replace their women with trans to have any hope of competing.
The answer is a separate trans Olympics, like the Paralympics. They need to get their own spaces and stop invading ours.

Aeroflotgirl · 20/04/2019 08:59

Looking at that picture, Semenya, looks so much bigger and muscular than the other females behind her?. No wonder they are out in front, and leaving the rest behind.

OP posts:
Aeroflotgirl · 20/04/2019 09:04

Not really araiwa it is a real concern, and reading further Semenya is a biological male. Of course most transwomen see themselves as 'real women', this is going to open up the floodgates for similar, we have already had Rachel Mckinnon a transwomen, winning a female cycling competition, it is pushing biological women out of sport. As I said, that picture of Semenya speaks a thousand words, as he is so much bigger and muscular than his biological female counterparts.

It's very crap for Semenya that's she has to have her intimate details revealed when this isn't a choice - she has always been female in the eyes of her community. Shame this couldn't have been anonymous.

Aeroflotgirl · 20/04/2019 09:21

Noeuf it is crap for biological women competing against biological men, as they have no hope of winning, and Semenya is a biological male. Why should it not be challenged? Any biological male competing in women's sport should be challenged.

OP posts:
SouthWestmom · 20/04/2019 09:22

None if that says she has to be named. She didn't choose to change sex.

Aeroflotgirl · 20/04/2019 09:54

Then other like RM should not be named then. It just seems that women are being what at from a great height!
