To start looking for another job

So my boss has replied to an email that I would describe as neutral and constructive with a response indicating I should keep my nose out. I and my colleagues believe I’m acting with my remit.

The question is...

The job is part time and flexible and I have two children under four.

Should I stick it out or look for something else?

Is a career important or is it just about whatever job you have to do to get the money you need?

I’m interested in opinions from both sides 😊

If you’re not happy then look for a new one it doesn’t hurt to keep your options open in any job

I feel like my career is important. My profession comes a way down a list of nouns I'd use to define myself but it's certainly on there; I've worked and studied hard to be where I am.

However, if I were rich enough that I never needed to work again, I might manage to see out my notice period. I've told my boss that if I won the Euromillions he'd have to work out my change in fortunes from better and better photos on social media.

A part time and flexible job to a youngish person (inferred by your children's age) doesn't sound like something too important to your career.

I think that you should look for a new job. I also think you need to toughen up. If an indication to keep your nose out of something is enough for this response then there are real issues for you if you expect a professional career.

@turnedtoinsult you’re right on all levels.
It’s a weird company In which they’re your friend one minute and your boss the next.
I think I need to be assertive and outline what I think my remit is vs what they think it is and go from there.
