Many moons ago, probably early nineties, my mum would buy a bottled sauce from Sainsbury’s that was ‘Caribbean’ flavoured (in the days when the description on the bottle probably wasn’t any more specific than that!).
You poured it over chicken and cooked it. It had a treacle type consistency and colour, but tasted tangy.
We are almost certain it wasn’t jerk chicken sauce as the taste was entirely different.
Trying to figure out what on Earth it was so we can try to find a modern-day version!
Anyone either remember it or know what it might’ve been?
Possibly it was just a vaguely Caribbean themed sauce that the sainsbury’s manufacturing chefs had created, but hoping I may find out from someone who remembers!
