DD has got 7 eggs (2 large, 2 med and 3 small) plus the extra packs of sweets/chocolate they come with, a lindt chocolate bunny and a chocolate lolly.

She’s 3 and is going to her dads this weekend where she get yet more chocolate probably another 6-8 eggs (probably med size) from her dads family which will get sent home with her minus the chocolate packs that come inside.

I don’t mind her having a bit of chocolate or a handful of haribo and I’m pleased so many people love her and want to treat her (she has 3 great grandparents and is the only great grandchild on both sides so gets spoilt by them without adding in that she has 5 grandparents and parents who’re separated so buy separately for her and her godparents buy for her as well) but I feel that 13-15 eggs is too much for such a small child.

WIBU to eat the larger chocolate eggs/chocolate and just leave the packs of sweets/chocolate that come from the inside of the eggs? I will be melting some down for cookies/cakes/ice cream sauce over the next week so she’ll get those too, so it’ll just be a bit.

I’ve got no Easter Eggs so feel it’s only fair my DD shares.

If people don't want their children to eat all their treats xmas or easter they might want to donate the excess chocolate
What about Food banks elderly residential homes or elderly neighbours ...I've given to the local refuge before as no one cares if its a day or too after the event... chocolate is chocolateGrin

Donate them to charity or a food bank - spread the love.

I can't see that she'd be overly fussed at 3 if you ate one or two of them for her. I have made a point every year at Easter and Christmas that I didn't want my now 3 year old to get loads of chocolate so people have been very respectful of that and they tend to treat him in other ways. That said he has got a chocolate train from his granny and a Lindt bunny which, even with rationing, will probably last him through the whole of spring and summer!

Some of dds are going to food bank. We didnt buy her one as before Easter arrived she'd been given 4 eggs. She now has 19 eggs.. Yes 19. Plus 3x packs of 6 mini milky bar. 2 boxes of kinder sticks. And some of the little. Milky bar shaped things in a barn shape box.
She's only 13m.. We both have huge families. We do request not to get her any if possible. But they say its not fair on her..

She still has 3 tubes of buttons from Xmas. As she was 9m and didnt need choc. I'd put in a cupboard and forgot. They don't have much date so dp will eat them now.

My ds 13 had even more. As he get at his dad's too. Absolute madness.

My 3, nearly 4, year old has already forgotten about his easter eggs. Just hide them out of view, keep a few packets of buttons etc for treats over the next week and do what you like with the rest (eat, food bank, melt down for cooking). I don't know why anyone would give a 3 year old so much chocolate.

My four year old ate about a quarter of his egg yesterday and then said to me later in the day ‘I’ve eaten all my eggs now haven’t I?’

I of course said no of course not, you only had a bit. But if I’d have nonchalantly said yes l, wasn’t it lovely? That would have been the end of it.

The overthinking about all this is staggering.

My mum would always steal my chocolate eggs when I was in bed. Same went with Christmas chocolate and pretty much any other treats I had.

I soon learned to hide them in my room and eat them in secret.

Not saying that was fully responsible for my obesity but I’m sure it didn’t help.
