To ask if this would bother you?

I made an application at the bank, never got an email confirmation or anything which seemed odd. Got a letter a few days later asking me to take some more ID in branch so I was pleased that the application had actually gone through.

Got to the branch and no record of our application (it was a joint one). Obviously this was incorrect as I had written correspondence in regards to it. I was there over an hour till I eventually had to cut it short and go back to work. Half of that time was spent waiting for my turn to speak to someone!

In total I have spent 2 hours of my time on this, my details are God knows where (including details of my current account) and I have no resolution.

Came home from work yesterday and 2 boxes are waiting - one for me and one for DP. Inside mine is a bottle of white wine. Inside his is a bottle of posh single malt whiskey!

Muggins here did all the work, bobbing into branch, wasting my lunch hour etc. To be rewarded with an average bottle of wine compared to his

AIBU to be a bit miffed?

Are you miffed that they lost the application or that DH got posher alcohol? If the latter, just put a pic on Twitter, tag them in and ask why they did it. Perhaps you could start a LetAlcoholBeAlcohol account Wink

LillithsFamiliar · 16/04/2019 18:44

And to answer your question, yy it would bother me. The gas company wanted to speak to DH today about our account even though it's in joint names and the payments come from my bank account. I was genuinely surprised they were so blatantly sexist.

SuperPixie247 · 16/04/2019 18:49

That DP got posher booze tbh 😂

Obviously really annoyed about my application. Went to another bank in branch today and it was done in half an hour!

That’d piss me off too! That’s rubbish.

ILoveMaxiBondi · 16/04/2019 18:51

YES! Id be massively pissed off. I don’t drink wine at all but do drink whiskey. Id send the wine back and ask for whisky.

vincettenoir · 16/04/2019 18:54

YNBU. That is bang out of order.

HennyPennyHorror · 16/04/2019 18:54

Well "his" booze is yours too....I'd honestly write in and complain though. It's shit! They should have sent a voucher in both names. I'd be angry because DH and I don't drink alcohol! What if you were Muslim or something!

HennyPennyHorror · 16/04/2019 18:54

Or indeed....alcoholics trying to avoid temptation! It's a crude gift.

SuperPixie247 · 16/04/2019 18:56

Good points Henny DP would never not share but one specifically came addressed to him and one to me.

The thought also did cross my mind. Bit presumptuous to think we both drink!

It would bother me, and to make myself feel better about the blatant sexism, I'd have to drink the whiskey.

tor8181 · 16/04/2019 19:05

what would annoy me is the assumption that everyone drinks

if that was this house it would be a wasted present as both adults are teetotal
