Please help me book my parents a holiday

I'd like to book my parents a holiday. They do a lot of childcare for us and have been unwell and said they would like a holiday so I'd like to book them one. They are aged mid sixties and just want somewhere to relax.

Spain or Canary Islands ideally but would consider a Greek island but no where else.

All inclusive travelling in June 2019

4 or 5 star decent clean places with pools and beaches but they dont want to spend a fortune!

Really struggling thank you!!

Cyprus is lovely.

Go coral beach area. You can’t go far wrong.

stucknoue · 16/04/2019 18:05

Italy is lovely and flight isn't too long. Travelzoo is good to find a decent deal

Didiusfalco · 16/04/2019 18:06

Madeira is ideal for that age group.

MarthasGinYard · 16/04/2019 18:07

Madeira is a beautiful island

Some gorgeous properties can get good deals

SeriouslyStrongCheese · 16/04/2019 18:08

They've been to Cyprus a lot. Ideally Spain or Greek island thanks. Will look at Madeira though.

Maybe look at the Costa Dorada in Northern Spain if they want something a bit less ‘pie and chips’ than Benidorm et al?

iamH · 16/04/2019 18:44

Get them to Kefelonia.
It's truly beautiful.
Lots of places to explore and a truly beautiful island

How about a landmark trust holiday. I once bought one as a present for my sister and it worked out really well. Mostly uk but they do have some overseas properties, including in Italy.

Yes they've been to benidorm for a typical all inclusive holiday but want something a bit more chilled this time. Thanks for all the suggestions so far. I do fancy them going to a Greek island kefalonia looks beautiful.

Have you thought about SAGA holidays at all?

I work in a Bureau de Change and have had a few customers recently raving about them.

SeriouslyStrongCheese · 16/04/2019 19:21

Ooh Saga ok I'll look thanks

Mid 60s here and off to S’Algar in Menorca soon . Lovely gentle collection of hotels and a beautiful friendly island .
Tui fly from Gatwick and do all inclusive for around £720 for 7 nights at the Portblue .

Nolagerformethanks · 16/04/2019 19:32

No great reccomendations on destination but I found Jet2 holidays great value for money and good customer service, I'm sure someone will be along to disagree with me soon but I really enjoyed travelling/booking with them Smile

minipie · 16/04/2019 19:43

Only certain Greek islands have airports and doubt they want the hassle of a boat transfer.

I would suggest:
Corfu (just make sure you avoid the party areas)
Zakynthos (ditto)
Kefalonia

I agree Menorca would be a good option too though especially if they like Spain.

My parents are always off to Turkey, they have stayed in some amazing luxurious hotels for really good prices, usually they spend £200-300 all inclusive for a week away, sometimes 2 weeks. It's so cheap to go there when you don't have to go during school holidays.

What is your budget?

TeeniefaeTroon · 16/04/2019 19:46

My parents frequently go to Majorca, Cyprus and Portugal and they're about the same age.

SeriouslyStrongCheese · 16/04/2019 19:47

Will check out menorca too. Not sure jet2 go from Gatwick or am I googling wrong?!

OP posts:
SeriouslyStrongCheese · 16/04/2019 19:48

Sorry definitely no to Turkey. They're not happy with the terrorism side of things. I am not sure on budget but I think they'd expect to pay up to £2000.

OP posts:
SeriouslyStrongCheese · 16/04/2019 19:48

@Teenie any recommendations on hotels please?

MummaGiles · 16/04/2019 19:48

I second PP’s recommendation of jet2 holidays

wineandroses1 · 16/04/2019 19:50

Kefalonia is lovely but the wasps are awful. When we were there we couldn't lie by a pool without being dive-bombed and when sitting outside a bar they would crawl into glasses, land on food etc. We ended up eating inside mostly as they were so annoying. Not sure what the locals can do about it (maybe try to destroy the nests?), but we wouldn't go back.

FaithInfinity · 16/04/2019 19:54

My Dad is in his 60s and has been to Madeira a couple of times. It’s not a beach location but he said it was beautiful.

SeriouslyStrongCheese · 16/04/2019 20:37

@wineandroses1 oh dear that's terrible because I have a massive wasp phobia and was thinking of going to kefalonia as it looks so beautiful. What a shame.
