To wash everyday?

I currently wash my hair every other day and on the days in between I just have a quick wash in the shower (I’m only in there for about 2 mins). I’m staying with my sister for the week and she says it’s a lot of water to use and that you don’t really need to wash every day- she says that every other day is fine. I just wondered if other people thought that washing everyday is too much? Thanks

I shower every morning and nice bubble bath every night

5 times a day for me. Shower when I get up,
then after my morning gym session, then when I get back from work, then before sex, then finally before bed.

Megan2018 · 16/04/2019 20:18

My hair stinks if not washed alternating days. Anyone that mucks out mares on straw will know the smell I mean. It’s revolting! I use a spray on my hair to absorb the smell but it’s still there.
A strip wash wouldn’t get rid of the ground in grime and sweat from me either, not everyone spends their time in a clean environment!

Of course I can cope without showering when the need arises, but I much prefer the feeling post shower.

NoCauseRebel · 16/04/2019 20:42

Interesting isn’t it that the people who talk about showering every day being bad for you/the environment etc are the same ones who don’t shower every day? I bet though they have a glass of wine most nights and own a car/go on foreign holidays.

Personally I think that not showering or bathing every day is minging. Hair is different because everyone is different on that score. But there is absolutely no need to not shower or bath every day, and making up some tripe about the environment and it being bad for their skin is just them trying to justify it.

Megan2018 · 16/04/2019 20:48

Lol @NoCauseRebel
I shower daily but have a fully electric car, eco home and don’t fly Wink
You can be green and clean

MissPollyHadADolly19 · 16/04/2019 20:51

@EnglishDictionary nope, even if it stunk I would rather it smelt than the dry, scaly scalp I'd get if I washed it more than that. I cover my hair anyway so I can get away with it Grin
I think each to their own.

OldAndWornOut · 16/04/2019 20:53

Surely hair is the same in terms of getting actually dirty, even though it may vary in how dirty it looks?

NotOnTheBench · 16/04/2019 20:57

I'm menopausal so the thought of going to work with last night's sweat is too awful to contemplate!

TheBlackDaliah · 16/04/2019 20:59

I shower and wash my hair daily. As I child we had weekly baths interspersed with the odd strip wash and even then I hated it.
I noticed from quite a young age that I was grubby compared to other children and once I was older I was bullied for it.
My children shower daily and I hope they never feel like I did.

MaryPopppins · 16/04/2019 21:03

I bath/shower at least 6 days a week usually.

But some mornings (either lazy/in a rush) I will just strip wash.

It's quicker in the sense that you can get dry much much faster and as someone else had said on a cold day it's way better.

In the summer I'm quite bad in that I can't go to bed if I've not bathed/showered if it's been sweaty/sun cream kind of day. So the could be 2 baths/showers a day. So I figure some winter sink washes maybe even it out a bit.

Although often I'll jump into DDs water. Or DH and I sure bath water if we're bathing in the morning. Whoever isn't washing their hair gets to first. Grin

Waiting on that "that's gross" attack......

Haffiana · 16/04/2019 21:05

There is always someone on these threads who will explain that a doctor/social worker/politician or whatever told them that they only need to wash once a week...

We don't NEED to wash at all, ever. However I just do not understand people who don't WANT to wash at least once a day. Why wouldn't you?

BarbieJellyBabyBrain · 16/04/2019 21:12

Ah yes, the 'anything less than twice a day is gross' brigade never go on foreign holidays Grin

motherheroic · 16/04/2019 21:26

I shower twice a day due to my job, but I keep the water on the cooler side rather than hot.

Can not imagine putting clean underwear on unwashed genitals.

goodwinter · 16/04/2019 21:28

Anyone who doesn’t shower daily is a dirty smelly b

Good god, you serious? I have eczema and showering every day causes flare-ups. I'm not dirty, how unbelievably rude.

woodhill · 16/04/2019 21:40

Would you not change your knickers if you were changing to go out if you didn't have time to shower in the evening after work?

Also perfume and deodorant spray are good

I shower every day and am fussy about personal hygiene.

Brodiebirdy · 16/04/2019 21:42

@springwalk she definitely doesn’t have money problems! She earns more than double what I earn and her husband is very well paid also! They have a comfortable life! She says it’s more about the principle of not using water that you don’t need!

Decormad38 · 16/04/2019 21:44

I have a shower in the morning and one at night. My dh doesn’t and insists its because he doesn’t smell but he seems unable to smell himself. YANBU for sure.

Brodiebirdy · 16/04/2019 21:48

@mabellavendar I did ask her today if she washes after sex and she says that she always makes sure that sex falls on a showering day for her.

OP posts:
woodhill · 16/04/2019 21:52

Lol so not very spontaneous- is it on her to do list OP

topcat2014 · 16/04/2019 21:54

I have never washed at the sink because I don't live in the 1950's, and don't really know what that involves, if I am honest.

Shower every day.

topcat2014 · 16/04/2019 21:55

I would prefer showering before :)

topcat2014 · 16/04/2019 21:56

@goodwinter - the thing is I have bad eczema too, but I find I need a shower every day to try and sooth it.

I don't use any products though, apart from a couple on prescription.

ilovepixie · 16/04/2019 21:58

I shower 4 times a day. Once in the morning. Once at lunch time. Once when home from work and once before bed GrinGrin

M0reGinPlease · 16/04/2019 21:59

I'm baffled at the thought of all these people stood at their bathroom sinks of a morning 'strip washing'! Surely two minutes in a shower is quicker, easier and less messy. Not to mention a lot less weird.

Brodiebirdy · 16/04/2019 22:02

@woodhill lol yes they have dots on their calendar and I think that’s them choosing nights to do it to make sure it fits in with their routine! She’s quite judgemental of those who enjoy regular sex though!

OP posts:
U2HasTheEdge · 16/04/2019 22:03

I find having a strip wash much quicker than a shower. As someone else said, it is quicker because you just get the bits you want washed wet so you don't have to dry all of your body.

It isn't messy washing at a sink at all.

I might miss a day of washing if I am not going to work and haven't done anything to sweat.
