To wash everyday?

Brodiebirdy · 16/04/2019 13:17

I currently wash my hair every other day and on the days in between I just have a quick wash in the shower (I’m only in there for about 2 mins). I’m staying with my sister for the week and she says it’s a lot of water to use and that you don’t really need to wash every day- she says that every other day is fine. I just wondered if other people thought that washing everyday is too much? Thanks

@queenscot my habit of showering every other day has never affected a job Confused
That's including 10 years emergency services, plenty of customer service jobs and retail

BarbieJellyBabyBrain · 18/04/2019 12:02

I've came the the conclusion that the vast majority of non daily showerers on here are who I could pick out of a line up by looks and smell, No grooming, skincare routine, don't tend to wear make up and probably don't iron their clothes either.

God, you might have nice daily showered, exfoliated and moisturised skin, but you still sound like you are pretty gross.

What the fuck does having a skincare routine, wearing makeup or ironing clothes have to do with hygiene?

DappledThings · 18/04/2019 12:04

for my profession I require full face of make up

Well that's quite different to wearing make-up as a choice. I have a professional, management role and wear no make-up. Nor do any of the other three women in our management team. It's utterly irrelevant.

LaurieMarlow · 18/04/2019 12:07

These non showering wouldn't get many a job

I'm on just shy of 6 figures so it hasn't hurt me. Grin

intensiveeveline · 18/04/2019 12:23

Not washing is maybe the quickest way to get that office of your own Grin

Barbie222 · 18/04/2019 12:33

It is your choice not to wash but I'm afraid us washies can always smell you! Like you can never smell your own pets.

Barbie222 · 18/04/2019 12:34

Bits and pits is just moving the dirt around, IMO.

SerenDippitty · 18/04/2019 12:35

Again learn how soap works.

intensiveeveline · 18/04/2019 12:36

I swear my dog doesn't smell Grin

So you know people who smell every other day? As by this logic they won’t smell the day they shower, but will stink the following day.

I have never met anyone who smells some days and not others.

I am constantly astonished at the amount of people on here who don't know how soap works.

LaurieMarlow · 18/04/2019 12:40

So do you have clear data on who's washing and when? Of course you don't. So you haven't got a clue.

queenscot · 18/04/2019 12:41

No one has answered what their thoughts on teeth brushing x 2/3 a day. Or do you leave it for days also? As you think you smell lovely! We can all agree good teeth hygiene has lead to us keeping our teeth longer?

LaurieMarlow · 18/04/2019 12:42

Ok Queen I brush my teeth twice a day.

Happy?

intensiveeveline · 18/04/2019 12:43

The thing with teeth is, one can brush their teeth twice-daily and still have rotten breath which they may not be aware of. I have acid reflux and I am paranoid about that as it can give you a sour breath smell regardless of any amount of teeth-brushing. Like regular washing solves BO for most, except for those poor souls who have a medical problem. Certain illnesses have their own smells.

Me too.

Grammar · 18/04/2019 12:53

Oh for goodness sake.
I've been a nurse for 35 years. There are so many people out there that can't shower or bath but are perfectly clean, don't smell, well turned out, people with self worth and esteem.

I really contest the poster who said she/ he can smell out someone who doesnt daily shower.
May be it's themselves they feel they may smell?

This 21st century luxury of daily showering, is just that. Luxury.
Some people have more to put up with than daily showering, in case they smell to these obviously highly sensitive individuals.

DappledThings · 18/04/2019 12:56

I did, yesterday. Teeth twice a day.

I do! We have a computer technician who visits the office on a regular basis and on consecutive days. He definitely has days when his b o is over-powering. And other days when he is sweet smelling. It's obvious to everyone when he has washed and when he hasn't bothered!

DameDiazepamTheDramaQueen · 18/04/2019 13:04

Grammar absolutely!

My grandparents lived in a council flat in the mid to late 80's with only one outside loo and no bathroom at all. They were absolutely pristine and my gran was one of the most glamorous (clean!) women I have ever known. That really wasn't that long ago. Yes,things have moved on and it's seen as standard to have a shower but it IS a luxury and many, many people can't 'jump' in the shower for all sorts of reasons. It really wasn't the norm to have daily showers back in the 70's and we all lived and didn't smell.

I like a daily shower as it freshens me up and I'm menopausal now so it feels nice but I could strip wash if a shower wasn't available or bucket wash in the bath.

I really think you should think about how privileged you are if you can't imagine /work out how you get clean from washing alone- and very lucky you haven't spent time in hospital where you can't get to the bathrooms.

SerenDippitty · 18/04/2019 13:08

It wasn't the norm to wash hair daily either and most people didn't have stinky greasy hair. Shampoo manufacturers worked out they could make more money if they convinced us to wash our hair every day.

queenscot · 18/04/2019 13:09

It sounds like a really through strip wash with a hot soapy water in a filled bucket or sink, sponges, and a good body detergent would be acceptable. I think though by the smell of some they don't bother with this!

DameDiazepamTheDramaQueen · 18/04/2019 13:10

SerenDippitty very true!!!

Pegsinarow · 18/04/2019 13:20

GAH! Sorry! Rushing! Meant "I have" not "I do"! Confused Grin

YourSarcasmIsDripping · 18/04/2019 13:51

The is basic discipline which should be instilled into your children.
