To wash everyday?

I currently wash my hair every other day and on the days in between I just have a quick wash in the shower (I’m only in there for about 2 mins). I’m staying with my sister for the week and she says it’s a lot of water to use and that you don’t really need to wash every day- she says that every other day is fine. I just wondered if other people thought that washing everyday is too much? Thanks

I hate these competitive cleaning threads.

'eurgh jus get a quick shower'
'oh what could be easier than five mins in the shower'
'I wouldn't dare leave the house without a shower'

NOT EVERYONE HAS A SHOWER
NOT EVERYONE IS ABLE TO JUST JUMP IN A SHOWER THEY MAY OR MAY NOT HAVE!

It's just that until they've been back through the machine, with detergent and dried, they're NOT clean.

What do you do once you’ve cleaned and dried the towels? So many people fold them with their bare hands (secreting all sorts of ‘particles’ on them) and put them in a cupboard or drawers the inside of which haven’t been cleaned for months Shock.

The only way is to use a fresh unused pair of marigolds to take the towel from the tumble dryer (don’t get me started on those people who dry their clothes outside on lines - just think of all the fumes and farts in the air!), and then shrink wrapped in an unused plastic bag until use. How else can you keep the towel pristine? Confused

People keep saying they don't smell. But it's more about your vagina and arse if we're being honest here. But if you're happy to have two/three day build up down there that's your choice I guess.

Oakenbeach · 17/04/2019 07:44

The stench from unwashed clothes is utterly revolting

Tell me about it... Most people, thankfully, only wear their underwear once before washing, but will happily wear jumpers/coats/gloves etc more than once. How anyone could put on a garment that’s already been used previously without it being washed is beyond me. Yes, dry cleaning bills can be high for coats, suits etc. but it’s a small price to pay for basic cleanliness.

And don’t get me started on those people who don’t shower and change their clothes after getting back from work....I could never imagine sitting on my sofa with clothes on that had been wafted through city air.

Orangeballon · 17/04/2019 07:45

Washing is a personal preference. You need to wash your private parts every day no matter what but the rest of you can go a day or three. That is scientifically correct,

Personally I prefer to shower at least once a day when possible.

motherheroic · 17/04/2019 07:47

@Oakenbeach Sorry but washing a coat every single time you wear it is ridiculous.

sabrinasanchezr · 17/04/2019 07:47

I wash every day, I just wouldn't feel comfortable if I didn't!

As is the cost of new clothes to replace the ones that have been ruined by constant washing.

redbedheadd · 17/04/2019 07:52

These people saying they wash a towel every single time after use... how the heck do you have time? I have a newborn baby and I already feel like I spend my life doing washing, I do 2 loads a day - one for him and one for us.... it's ridiculous! I don't understand how putting the towel against my clean body for 1 minute ( I usually wrap towel to walk to bedroom then air dry 😂) would make the towel filthy???

Damntheman · 17/04/2019 07:58

Washing every day is terrible for my skin so I go for every other, or every third in winter. You do you OP, if your sister is worried about the water would a flannel wash be ok? Or giving her some money to cover the cost. She's being weird criticizing your shower habits if you're not spending 4 hours a day in there.

YouBumder · 17/04/2019 08:04

You sound a bit ridiculous and OTT Oakenbeach. Who washes or dry cleans a coat after one wear? As for the “city air” comment about clothes and sitting on your sofa, where do you live, Chernobyl?

Moorfields · 17/04/2019 08:07

I have a quick 5 minute shower daily, I use a timer so it's an accurate 5 minutes rather than dh's estimated '5 minute' shower! Grin

Instead of using wet wipes at home, I wash with a jug of warm water and then wipe dry with loo roll. Does the same job as a wet wipe. At work, I dispose of wet wipes in sanitary bin instead of flushing down the loo.

I worked with a young woman once who showered daily and had beautiful long hair. I admired it and asked her how she kept the condition so well. She told me she washed it only weekly. All well and good, but I could smell her oily scalp every time she walked past my desk.

As for my hair - well it's dry, dry oh so dry! I tried not washing it for several days once and it got even drier (missing the water and conditioner I guess - at least that's what Philip Kingsley the trichologist said). So looking at my hair, people might think it had been washed as it was certainly not oily. The thing is though, your scalp still smells and must be washed.

Sorry meant to put Grin there!

Can't you see the difference? Shock

BarbieJellyBabyBrain · 17/04/2019 08:45

Oh, reading Oakenbeach's other posts, I see they are trolling!

Marigolds to get the towel out of the tumble dryer! 😂

Lweji · 17/04/2019 08:47

So relieved! Grin

Skyejuly · 17/04/2019 08:49

I have a shower every day before bed and again in morning but it's not excessive. I just like it.

freshsmelling · 17/04/2019 08:53

I hate working with people with smelly clothes. They seem clean in themselves, but you can smell fag smoke, fry-ups etc coming off their clothes Envy

englishdictionary · 17/04/2019 08:53

My problem with jumping in the shower is creating noise for my neighbours. I don't want to wake them up at 5.30

Ever considered moving your shower into your own house Grin

Do people who 'jump' into the shower then 'grab' a coffee and 'pick up a haul' from the shops?Wink
