I went away recently and went on a crocodile boat tour to see wild crocodiles in a river. It was amazing and we got really close to them.
However there was a French family on the boat with a dd of about 7. As soon as she saw the first crocodile she was terrified and ended up cowering and sobbing at the far end of the boat. Her parents knew she was upset and made no effort to comfort her or engage with her at all.
My friend ended up sitting with her and cuddling her to try to calm her down but doesn't speak French so the language barrier was a problem. It took a good 5 minutes for them to call their dd over who clung to her father for the remainder of the tour.
I know seeing crocodiles close up is exciting and doesn't happen every day but surely one of them could have taken the photos and one comforted their dd?
