blocking unknown twitter followers

I regularly get followed on Twitter by middle aged American men - usually saying they're doctors or servicemen often terribly keen on God . Lots of numbers in their name and limited followers

AIBU (and a bit paranoid) to block them?

If they have lots of numbers in their names, they are probably bots. I'd block them.

Of course YANBU. I block anyone who looks like a bot or a porn type page and tries to follow me.

damekindness · 14/04/2019 21:31

What's the point of these bots? Are they harmful?

I get so many of these! They message me things like ‘hey baby’ etc

Sparklesocks · 14/04/2019 21:33

They might be bots, normally harmless but they might spam links etc, or certain organisations/people have set them up to tweet positive/negative things about certain areas

Smelborp · 14/04/2019 21:36

It’s weird. They often pm things like ‘hello my dear’ which earns them a block. Instagram too.

What is the point?
