To be disconcerted by my new naked neighbour ...

I live in an upper floor flat in a large house converted into flats. The house next door has been vacant for nearly a year, being renovated. The new owners moved in on Friday.

This afternoon as I've been working at my desk, in front of the window overlooking my garden and the gardens on either side, I've been treated to the sight of an elderly man mowing the lawn wearing nothing but a sunhat and some flip-flops.

I'm genuinely confused about what to think. It's their garden of course. I have a teenage daughter whose bedroom window overlooks the gardens who will probably find it hilarious; dh already found it amusing until the man's wife joined him around an hour ago - you guessed it, stark naked!

It's sunny today but really cold; I dread to think what will happen in summer ...

I’d pop my head over the dance and say loudly but in a friendly voice- could you put some clothes on please dear? I don’t want to see your arse!

Quietlife333 · 14/04/2019 19:43

Fence! Not dance 🤣

AnnieMay100 · 14/04/2019 19:45

I’d be shocked but couldn’t resist a giggle whenever I ‘caught them’ poor sod must be frozen though! I bet they knew you were having a good look too Grin

bloodywhitecat · 14/04/2019 19:46

It's a human body (or two) and they are in their own garden, I don't think I could get hung up about it to be honest.

Biancadelrioisback · 14/04/2019 19:49

That's excellent. I wish I was as confident about my bod to just be naked for no reason

eyeswideshit · 14/04/2019 19:51

it would never become normal for me 🤮

I wonder how you get through life if the sight of a naked body makes you vomit Hmm

“not on the part of his body that was bouncing against his thighs as he strode up and down the garden”

Quite impressed that at his age it’s still bouncing against his thighs in this weather, don’t know where you are but it’s bloody freezing here.

Rockmysocks · 14/04/2019 20:08

Love them hugging and watching the sun go down! How lovely.
They're just naked. Happy in their own skins. Not hurting anyone. Aww. I'm moved. I wish I could be so uninhibited and free.

Thatsnotmyotter · 14/04/2019 20:11

This old couple are my heroes!

Unfortunately DH is far too repressed for naked lawn mowing 🙄

ABC1234DEF · 14/04/2019 20:12

Omg that's absolutely terrible!

Is he not aware of the safety implications of wearing open toed shoes whilst mowing the lawn?!

StoneofDestiny · 14/04/2019 20:22

Hope you are not trying to sell your house OP 😳

TheLittleDogLaughed · 15/04/2019 08:49

We’re in Kent. Yesterday was v sunny but really cold. Today looks the same. I’m working from home ... wonder what they will be doing!

PacmansGapingMaw · 15/04/2019 08:52

Meh, let them wobble contently on their own land. It's not like he's staring you down and helicoptering at a steady pace.

TheLittleDogLaughed · 15/04/2019 12:00

He's out again this morning with another man. The other man is naked except for a t-shirt.

OP posts:
Sarcelle · 15/04/2019 12:03

Never understood that look, a t-shirt but everything else on display.

I wonder if they are swingers? Or just hard core naturists?

They are on their own property but I wouldn't like it.

TheLittleDogLaughed · 15/04/2019 12:33

I think they look more like naturists than swingers. Although things are swinging a little. They look like they do this all the time, quite natural rather than showing off. Maybe I'll just get used to it. Might be weird if they had a party though with lots of naturist friends ...

Rockmysocks · 15/04/2019 12:55

T shirt man could have been worse... socks and sandals

Xenia · 15/04/2019 12:58

I would just pretend you hadn't seen. No point in making a fuss and it's only a body. I often lie in my garden in just knickers (but am not over looked). If anyone chose to look in that's their look out.

MustStopSnacking28 · 15/04/2019 12:59

I’m obsessed with this thread Grin need constant updates on the happy naked oldies!

LakieLady · 15/04/2019 13:04

Awww, I think that's rather sweet. I wish I had the confidence to go naked in the garden.

Cel982 · 15/04/2019 13:05

Aren't you going to call around with a 'Welcome to the Neighbourhood' gift, OP? I'd be dying to see if they come to the door au naturel or not.

NorthEndGal · 15/04/2019 13:06

The t-shirt helps prevent sunburn, plus the drippy sweaty armpit thing

DH and I go to a nude beach on a regular basis, but then it doesn't feel odd because everyone else is naked too. Also, there are no kids there.
I wouldn't just go wandering around the garden naked, unless we moved out of town and somewhere right isolated.
Even then, not to do yard work, maybe to take sun, but not talking the boarders or such!

TheLittleDogLaughed · 15/04/2019 13:06

Xenia it is actually really very difficult not to see. And as it's not offending me I don't need to pretend I haven't.

No updates MustStopSnacking28 the garden is currently unoccupied. It looks a bit ... bare Grin

Theoldwoman · 15/04/2019 13:07

Leave them be. If they are happy in their own skin , in their own backyard, well good on them.

bigbluebus · 15/04/2019 13:08

Haha ABC I was thinking the same thing. I'd be tempted to knock on their door and ask if he realised it was dangerous to mow the lawn whilst wearing flip flops? Grin
