To have a sneaking respect for certain people who break all the rules and keep on going?

To have a sneaking respect for people like Keith Richards and others who have massively abused their bodies through their lifestyles over the years and still keep on going?

I have always been staunchly anti drugs (possibly it started when I was a teenager with the death, from an overdose, of a teenage family friend) but working in the NHS I see enough people who have no control over the poor health nature has foisted upon them. If you are lucky enough to enjoy good health you should appreciate your good fortune and look after your body - I don’t mean be a total health freak, but avoidance of obviously poor choices and behaviours doesn’t seem unreasonable.

Chrissie Hynde is another survivor I love who took all the risks and came out the other side whilst two of her band mates died.

And I guess most of us have a relative who has smoked and drunk all their lives to no obvious ill effect. Annoying isn’t it?
