To think that more boys are born in Summer and girls in Winter?

I'm not a journo or anything I promise. I read online once that boys are more likely to be born during the Summer months due to being more vulnerable as newborns, or something like that.

It got me thinking that I know far more women with Winter birthdays, and men with Summer birthdays so maybe there is some truth in it.

Does anyone know if this is true or if it is true for you?

Try the office of national statistics 🙄

RosemarysBush · 13/04/2019 21:52

Never heard that one. Son born winter, daughter summer. Friend’s boys, one summer, one winter.

DavenotChas · 13/04/2019 21:53

Umm, I've two daughters. One born in June, the other in July. Last time I checked, both were deemed summer...

cliquewhyohwhy · 13/04/2019 21:55

In my case it is true lol. Sons born June and August, daughter born December.

GeorgieTheGorgeousGoat · 13/04/2019 21:56

What about the other 50% of the year, Spring and Autumn?

FindLiam · 13/04/2019 21:57

One of each born Feb....

Snowflakes1122 · 13/04/2019 21:58

I’d heard this too. Some research showed exactly what you are saying a few years back.

JurassicGirl · 13/04/2019 21:58

Haha just started thinking about my male family members birthdays & they're (DH, DS1 & 2, DDAD, DBRO & DBIL) all have birthdays between June - Aug!

However, female members range all through the year.

avocadochocolate · 13/04/2019 21:59

Where did you get this crazy idea from??!!! Of course this it not true. YABU.

MaryShelley1818 · 13/04/2019 21:59

Both DH and DS have Winter Birthdays, mine is Spring.

Justajot · 13/04/2019 22:00

Can't you just Google it to see if it's true? No matter how many people respond on a thread of up to 1000 posts with information about their own families, you're not going to find out if it's true.

Snowflakes1122 · 13/04/2019 22:00

Although in my case I’ve got two winter girls, and a summer girl and summer boy Smile

CrashOverride · 13/04/2019 22:00

My boy came end of January

TrendyNorthLondonTeen · 13/04/2019 22:00

My sister and I are July/August...

IndianaMoleWoman · 13/04/2019 22:01

I’ve never thought about this but weirdly it’s true for my entire family.

PlainSpeakingStraightTalking · 13/04/2019 22:01

The mortality rate for boys is higher, something like 1054 male births to 1000 female, this evens out after infancy. Probably changed since the years I learned that random fact.

JaneEyre07 · 13/04/2019 22:02

3 winter girls here. Not planned, either.

nauseous5000 · 13/04/2019 22:03

This is actually true, though the numbers don't show it massively. Allegedly boy babies are less robust, so more born in warmer months. V pleased with my June DD however. I'll try to find the link

TheDarkPassenger · 13/04/2019 22:05

Haha my two boys are summer and my girl is winter!

This is about the only bloody statistic we seem to conform to!

TheDarkPassenger · 13/04/2019 22:06

Oh and I’m winter and oh is summer!

Omg!

Janleverton · 13/04/2019 22:08

Dh and both ds are all winter. Me and dd are summer. 2 brothers - one winter, one summer.

confusedofengland · 13/04/2019 22:10

My 3 boys are all winter babies. 2 nieces summer babies, 1 niece spring, 1 nephew summer & 1 nephew winter.

Flaverings · 13/04/2019 22:15

This is going to be a thrilling read.

stucknoue · 13/04/2019 22:17

I'm female and summer born. Perhaps 300 years ago but with modern medicine no.

LuckyAmy1986 · 13/04/2019 22:17

@Flaverings quite.
