To think Jeff Koons' art is utter crap

Just went to the exhibition at the Ashmoleon Museum in Oxford last week.

It has to be the biggest load of rubbish I have ever seen. An original Titian copied by a worker on paint and then attach a big shiny blue football on the front. Wow so insightful.

I quite liked some of his 90s kitsch stuff, but he's not done anything interesting since then.

Art is subjective. YANU to think what you like about any of it. 🤷

squashyhat · 13/04/2019 16:04

Haha. Yep. Based a weekend in Oxford around going to see this. What a load of old bollox. At least it was a 6 Nations weekend so we found a good bar to watch the rugby.

I’ve just googled 😱😂😱

The “works of art” I can see, look like balloon sculptures.

Is he a children’s party entertainer?

MooseBeTimeForSnow · 13/04/2019 16:08

He needs kicking into the black hole. But can I send Rothko in first please?

glitterbiscuits · 13/04/2019 16:12

Is he still going? I remember him and his wife Ilona Staller in the 80s/90s?
I think they were on something like The Word or another 'youth tv' thing.

ImHastingsDarling · 13/04/2019 16:56

I quite like Basquiat Confused

Fave sculptural artist atm would prob be Lorenzo Quinn

theploughinn · 14/04/2019 12:37

I whispered to dp that the art was "interesting" cue, a woman turning around giving me a foul death look; as if I'd just offended her personally!

Well it is shit. But it’s popular shit.
You’ll find that most very famous artists are just populist . Kaws. Hirst. Koons. Murakami. Warhol. Banksy. Amongst hundreds of others.

They’re all loved by the masses. Which means that monetarily they become investable and then it spirals from there.

People like shiny sparkly things
