AIBU to ask for you help - what to send to person newly diagnosed with ovarian cancer?

Family member was diagnosed over the last few weeks and I want to send something to let them know we are thinking of them but don't know what to send.
Was thinking flowers but want something else too and I'm just drawing a blank. Think I'm overthinking it a bit but I don't want to upset/offend in any way.

I wouldn’t send flowers. It’s a bit funeral-y. When my mum was diagnosed with cancer, we sent her some nice pampering things - nice hand cream, some ginger sweets (chemo makes you nauseous), a handmade card from the kids, some bath soak.

A nice lightweight blanket / pashmina type thing. Lovely for snuggling under.

I hope it goes as well as it can.

a bright cheerful bunch of flowers are' funeral-y' - since when ? i worked in a marie curie home years ago and relatives were always bringing in flowers for the staff and residents, most people were thoughtful in the colours though and did not bring traditional white lillies though.

I was delighted to get flowers when I go my cancer diagnosis. Indeed, I'm delighted to get flowers at any time - celebrations, showing empathy, or just for no reason at all

Depends on who relative is & your relationship to them. My lovely Mum had Ovarian cancer.

Thinking back to things I gave her/have taken to friends/would like myself if spending time in hospital my suggestions are :

cashmere socks
cashmere type wrap
potted rose plant for home/scented plant
lovely handcream or body lotion
smaller version of favourite perfume so could take with you - I also like the Aromatherapy Associates rollerballs
selection of magazines
prepaid costa card for hospital
books
Hundred stars kimono so I could "waft "
pretty packet of pocket tissues
L'Occitane refreshing wipes

Thinking good thoughts for your relative.

I was in Hospital recently for nothing too serious but a lovely card kept me going from a friend in which she had written some heartfelt words & that made me smile a lot as well as a lovely short video clip on my phone from my son singing me a daft song - whenever I listened to it it kept my spirits up.

There's a site called something like 'not another bunch of flowers' that specialise in gifts for people diagnosed with cancer - they signpost what's suitable for chemo etc. I thought they had great ideas for things I wouldn't have thought of
