Family messaging apps?

Can anyone recommend any apps I can use to communicate with my DC's? They both have tablets.

They are going to stay for a week with their dad however the majority of the time they will be looked after by their grandparents who don't really use their mobile phones much.

Like I say, DC's just have tablets. No mobile phones. Need something that's secure and just literally for messaging.

Would an email account not do the job?

ChoccieEClaire · 11/04/2019 21:27

How old are the DC?

tinkertinker1 · 11/04/2019 21:27

@19lottie82 I never thought of that to be honest. Yes possibly thanks

WhatsApp works on tablets

HollowTalk · 11/04/2019 21:28

Have a look at these.

tinkertinker1 · 11/04/2019 21:28

@HBStowe oh does it? Even without a phone number?

You have to have your phone nearby, don't you, HBStowe?

We use Telegram as my in-laws don't have smart phones. It's like WhatsApp, so you can set up a group, but you can use it on a tablet.

tinkertinker1 · 11/04/2019 21:30

@Doje that sounds more what I'm looking for, thank you

I use Snapchat to msg my kids on their tablets. They need a wifi connection for it to work though. I can msg or call them and have group or single chats.
