Can someone tell me why fishifingers are often vilified as part of children's diets but not a fishcake or other breaded fish? Or are they all and I just miss that? Aibu to think a fishifinger is the same as a fish and any other breaded cod fillet?

Don’t ask me, I’m vegan 🌱 🤷🏻‍♀️

😁

misper · 10/04/2019 18:28

is a fishifinger the same as a fishfinger? Smile

BendydickCuminsnatch · 10/04/2019 18:28

Fishifinger 😄 that made me laugh, love it! Calling them that from now on.

YANBU OP

I've never heard of this! A fishfinger sandwich is the food of the gods!

ShallICompareTheeToASummersDay · 10/04/2019 18:29

Never heard this. My kids are having them as we speak with potato wedges and corn on the cob!

spamandbeans · 10/04/2019 18:29

Oops fishfinger not fishi!!! Blush

Nothing wrong with fishfingers! I don't see anything wrong with breaded chicken nuggets either frankly! Maybe I'm just a scummy mummy tho!

Giddyuppp · 10/04/2019 18:31

I give my DS1 both fish Fingers and fish cakes. He doesn't have a full breaded fish though as he's only 1 years old.

GimmeBread · 10/04/2019 18:31

Love me a fishfinger sandwich ❤️

That's some typo OP - you did it three times! 😂😂

Divgirl2 · 10/04/2019 18:31

Nothing wrong with fish fingers - there's a documentary (of sorts) floating about about how they're made and it's so interesting! Think it was one that Greg Wallace was in.

Love me a fish finger sandwich!

FlopsyMopsyRabbit · 10/04/2019 18:33

@Divgirl2 Inside The Factory on BBC, I'm watching it as I type!

PickAChew · 10/04/2019 18:34

Fish fingers are great. I just get the sainsburys basics ones and they're lovely in a sandwich - grill up nice and Crispy without being too bready.

BasilBrushes · 10/04/2019 18:36

One of my DC would eat fishfingers for every meal given the chance, he loves them!

MinisterforCheekyFuckery · 10/04/2019 18:38

I wish my DC would eat fish fingers. I bloody love them.

MammaMia19 · 10/04/2019 18:38

Love fishifingers typo! You have a point, although I find "kids" food like nuggets or fishfingers only get vilified on mumsnet! In real life I've never seen anyone bat an eyelid about kids eating freezer food.

sittingonacornflake · 10/04/2019 18:39

I'm hungry now

Duchessgummybuns · 10/04/2019 18:40

Fish finger sandwich with tartare sauce... yum

Purplehammer · 10/04/2019 18:41

A friend of mine used to suck on them like iced lollies.

ZippyBungleandGeorge · 10/04/2019 18:43

DH is running late from work and DS has been poorly and grouchy all day, I just called him (he likes to bath DS of possible but bath time is at seven) and said I'm just going to defrost something from the freezer for dinner, and he said can we just have fish fingers 😂. DS doesn't even eat food yet, they are there for us! I will have a FF sandwich with salad and DH will probably want chips. As long as you don't deep fry them I think they're a fairly healthy convenience food

whitehalleve · 10/04/2019 18:43

I didn't know they were vilified. No reason for it!

IchibanLipstickForMen · 10/04/2019 18:44

@Purplehammer omg 😂

ShannonRockallMalin · 10/04/2019 18:45

I remember my health visitor suggesting I give my DS the fish from a fish finger (without the breaded bit) when I was starting him on solids! He liked it too.

SummerHouse · 10/04/2019 18:46

There is nothing unreasonable about a fishifinger ©

Eliza9919 · 10/04/2019 18:47

Fishfingers, chips and beans used to be one of my favourite dinners!

DramaAlpaca · 10/04/2019 18:48

I'm definitely going to call them fishifingers from now on.
