To feel annoyed about cleaner

So my dog runs off when the cleaner comes once a fortnight. Because of this I arrange for her to stay with my daughter. This involves planning and it means her having to go overnight the night before.
So for the second time since mid Feb the cleaner has asked to reschedule that morning ( after dog gone to daughters)to a different day due to different emergencies.

I accepted it was emergency but said I didn’t know about rescheduling yet as need to talk to daughter. A few hours later I get a curt text saying she needs to know.

Im a bit cheesed and said I would have to cancel as no time to rearrange dog and could she please give me more notice. I know they say its an emergency every time and I appreciate that but they do not seem to appreciate my circumstances the same way!

Fine to cancel rather than reschedule as the dog complicates things.

She’s scared of the vacuum and in her stress jumps or squeezes out of normally secure fences so can’t risk it. Plus they are slack and leave doors open!

I'd have a problem with a cleaner not being responsible enough to not allow the dog to run off. How hard is it to close the door and keep him in?

Surely you keep the dog in one room when your cleaner is there.

How does your dog run off? Are you there when she cleans? Does the dog run out of a door she leaves open? I'm so confused?

Would it not be easier to leave dog shut in one room whilst the cleaner is working and just pay her for cleaning all the other rooms? Taking the dog to your daughters every 2 weeks is ridiculous.

I think you are unreasonable to be annoyed at her if both times were for genuine emergencies. It is not her fault that you cannot rearrange because of the random dog issue.

I don’t lock the dog in one room because she gets stressed and I don’t trust that she wouldn’t be scared still when they left.

Yes the dog gets stressed. She runs off/ out of doors when they are coming in/ out!

My dogs don't like the vacuum and would run out the front door if left open so I put them in the dog pen when the cleaner is there.

So what do you do with the dog when you hoover the house? Surely it is better to have her shut in one room for a short while where you know she is possibly stressed but safe than running off every two weeks?

I have considered different options don’t want her sitting in a dog pen all day though until I get home later.

So its the fact they are strangers that is the problem not the fact she is afraid of the hoover?

I honestly think shutting her in a room would be kinder for her. It must be very stressful being taken away and left with your daughter every 2 weeks and the cleaners wont be there for long. Have you tried a calming plug in?

I don't think she didn't anything wrong. She had an emergency, asked to change the day and then chased it up when you hadn't got back to let her know. The dog is your problem to work around, not hers.

However, it’s unnecessary. Just find a cleaner who likes dogs and isn’t an incompetent twat. Pay her to come a few times and just get to know your dog and do a bit of non scary cleaning, then after a few visits she can put the dog in the utility or whatever safe space your dog has and do a little bit of hoovering in the distance then go back and make a big fuss of your dog. Build up to her being able to hoover like you do.

I think the other problem is that different people come to clean. Perhaps I need to find a smaller more personal cleaning company.

It’s the cleaner wanting to change the days, not the OP. If the cleaner cleaned on her scheduled days there wouldn’t be anything to ‘work around’. It’s rude to send huffy messages when someone is trying to change something to suit you.

Yes. Find a person who cleans, not an Agency. Find a dog loving cleaner you can have a good relationship with. It’s FAR better.

Due to an emergency though, it's not as if she is pissinG the OP about.

It’s rude to send huffy messages when someone is trying to change something to suit you.

She probably was stressed due to being in the midst of an emergency and just wanted to know whether it was ok or not.
