Went to turn off the dryer before bed. Dryer door open, clothes on the floor but the dryer was on and still spinning.

No ones touched it. DP in bed and I’m only one downstairs. Someone rationalise this because I’m fucking shitting myself and freaked out now

What are you scared has happened?

Netflixandchilll · 08/04/2019 00:04

Well it’s just a bit bloody creepy isn’t it

Your washing machine seal or catch is knackered.

pisspants · 08/04/2019 00:04

I would say you have some.kind of faulty door mechanism op, try not to worry x

PurpleDaisies · 08/04/2019 00:04

Not really. It sounds like the door catch had gone.

managedmis · 08/04/2019 00:04

What neptune said

FissionChips · 08/04/2019 00:05

Were you drying any socks?

Supercuts · 08/04/2019 00:06

Door catch has failed, popped open. It can happen when it gets too hot.

Netflixandchilll · 08/04/2019 00:07

It’s relatively new dryer. So I hope you’re all right. I haven’t got time for a ghost 😂

Hearhere · 08/04/2019 00:09

If there's a ghost make sure it earns it's keep by doing housework 🤣😂😅

Netflixandchilll · 08/04/2019 00:11

Yeah hopefully said ghost was just saving my washing from shrinking, it had been in the dryer a while

Fgs, relax. The door wasn't shut properly or it's defective. I'm sure the ghost living in your house has better things to do than spill your laundry all over the floor.

PerspicaciaTick · 08/04/2019 02:30

I'd be worried that the dryer still spins with the door open, I would have thought there should be a failsafe switch to cut the spinning the moment the door opens. I'd contact the manufacturer as it sounds defective.

DuckbilledSplatterPuff · 08/04/2019 02:30

There's no such thing as ghosts. It was Gremlins.

Topseyt · 08/04/2019 02:32

It's definitely a poltergeist.

SneakyGremlins · 08/04/2019 02:57

@DuckbilledSplatterPuff

I have an alibi! Shock

Hotsummerplease · 08/04/2019 03:05

I haven't got time for a ghost
That's made me laugh a lot Grin. Not normally awake laughing at tumble dryer posts at 3am but just seen DD off on school trip to Berlin. Will spend nx 5 days fretting...

UterusUterusGhali · 08/04/2019 03:09

That's a worry from a safety point of view! It should surely turn off when the door is open. It's obviously spat out your laundry.

steff13 · 08/04/2019 03:11

My dryer won't continue to spin if the door is open. I think that's weird.

Alicewond · 08/04/2019 03:13

Have you heard of the clothes dryer ghost op, it spits your clothes out and then....hangs them up neatly in your wardrobe!! 😂

DuckbilledSplatterPuff · 08/04/2019 03:29

@SneakyGremlins Smile [laugh]

DuckbilledSplatterPuff · 08/04/2019 03:30

I just can't use those emotiwhatsits.
OP. You need to improve your time management skills. Schedule some quality ghost time mid week.

JAPAB · 08/04/2019 03:54

I once heard of something similar happening. A person telling friends about a dryer mysteriously opening by itself in the night. Then a few days later she just disappeared without trace from her house, and no-one has seen her since or ever found out what happened to her.

Ellenborough · 08/04/2019 04:03

All dryers should stop when the door is opened. Yours has a faulty door.

The clothes have been flung out while doing round with the door open.
