Neighbour Opposite

Live in a street which is quite narrow.

Neighbour has been out there for an hour cleaning his car with really loud music on.

We are lazing about in bed after a busy day yday.

DH wants to go out and ask him to turn it down (we couldn’t put the TV on if we wanted to it’s that loud) I feel although it’s really annoying and inconsiderate- it’s a bit petty?

I dunno - why do people think this is ok?

You wouldn't be unreasonable to ask him to lower the volume if it's as loud as you describe.
On the other hand, if he's been at it for an hour, it's likely to be over soon.
I would grit my teeth and bare it for the sake of good neighbourly relations but then again i'm a bit of wuss when it comes to confrontation.

ThePlaceToVent · 07/04/2019 11:55

That’s what I said to DH surely he’ll be finished soon!! Grin

Also a wuss hoping someone else will go and ask him.

It's lunchtime!

Sexnotgender · 07/04/2019 12:02

It’s inconsiderate but it’s also midday so I’d leave him to it right now.

NeutralJanet · 07/04/2019 12:02

YANBU to be annoyed, why can't he use headphones instead of inflicting his shite music on the whole street. Selfish prick.

PCohle · 07/04/2019 12:03

Playing music outside is always quite annoying but 11am on a Sunday is hardly an unreasonable time to making noise.

wow i live opposite a childrens centre which seems to be a church on a sunday as they are always singing loud songs, every single sunday for a couple of hours. im taking it this isnt every week? so yes ywbu

qazxc · 07/04/2019 12:28

If your music is so loud that it drowns out your neighbours TV, it's beyond the pale and OP wouldn't be unreasonable to ask for it to be lowered to reasonable level.
I don't think the issue is that he has the radio on, it's the volume that's the issue.

maddening · 07/04/2019 12:34

It is never OK to amplify music outside

bakewellpath · 07/04/2019 12:35

Has he turned it off yet?

ThePlaceToVent · 07/04/2019 12:36

No!! 😂

Applecrumble79 · 07/04/2019 12:36

If he’s been out there an hour surely he’s nearly finished!!

Iltavilli · 07/04/2019 12:37

We have a local (we think Boys Brigade) group which marches past our home at 10am every other Sunday like it’s the sodding Twelfth.
I’d much prefer car washing music to the brain washing shite we’re subjected to.

SurreyisSunny · 07/04/2019 12:38

Neighbourly relations are very important so I wouldn’t mention it. You really don’t want to fal out over this.

If it was before 8am or after 10pm a different story.

ThePlaceToVent · 07/04/2019 12:40

He’s in the back seat now - not sure what he’s been doing in there Confused

RosaWaiting · 07/04/2019 12:52

if you can't hear a TV over it, tell him to put headphones on.

S1naidSucks · 07/04/2019 12:56

He’s an inconsiderate wanker. Yes, you need to expect a certain amount of noise, if living along side others, but there are things you can do to mitigate annoying others. What about people who have worked night duty or late shifts in factories, hospitals, etc? I worked nights for years and you do learn to tune out everyday noises, but that’s not an everyday noise, that’s a wanker.

Fluffytheevil1 · 07/04/2019 13:15

Just had to check with my Dh if this was him... 🤨 he was out cleaning the car to sell. He only had the news on in the background. Also I don’t think any of my neighbours would complain they’re the worst offenders for booming music!

BringMeTea · 07/04/2019 13:16

He is massive twat. YANBU.

MiniEggAddiction · 07/04/2019 13:17

I think at any time of day its outrageous to play music so loud your neighbours can't hear their TV's. It's not even like he's having a party just cleaning his bloody car!

BreakfastAtSquiffanys · 07/04/2019 13:19

I wouldn't hold out much hope for it stopping soon.
There's a certain subset of men who can quite happily spend the entire day buffing their Penis extension car

ThePlaceToVent · 07/04/2019 13:29

He’s still there 😂😂def not anyone’s DH it’s a shared house of (I think) Polish guys no ladies live there.

AnnieMay100 · 07/04/2019 13:37

I’d be going outside to ‘put the bins out’ try and get his attention and make hand gestures to stfu Grin slam front door on your way back in...sure sign you’re pissed off Grin but then I am a childish wimp

myidentitymycrisis · 07/04/2019 13:43

CandyCreeper are you my neighbour?!
