Me and two friends and her 14 year old daughter are going to London on Sunday night to see a show.
My friend booked two twin rooms at £80 per room.
I thought great that's £40 each for me and my friend.
My other friend has turned around and said that's around £53.50 each.
I said it's only £40 each for me and my friend as the room is £80
She has said two rooms is £160 so that's £160 shared 3 ways.
Aibu to think this is a bit cheeky?

What were the dinner plans, OP?

barryfromclareisfit · 06/04/2019 17:43

I’ve heard two new ways to refer to children this week - ‘sex trophies’ and now ‘crotch goblins’. I love them both.

Don’t pay for her child!

Bunter888 · 06/04/2019 17:45

give her 160 quid, cancel the trip and tel her to FO

Bunter888 · 06/04/2019 17:45

Give her 160 quid and cancel the trip and tell her to FO

chillpizza · 06/04/2019 17:46

Crotch goblin is brilliant. I feel some of you that already use it must be on DDR Grin

Only pay your half for your room not her child’s.

mummmy2017 · 06/04/2019 17:49

Yes, you need to say you will all be going Dutch, and paying only your share.

clairemcnam · 06/04/2019 17:51

I am wondering if the two comments on this thread saying splitting it 3 ways was a fair idea, were from the woman the OP refers to?

theworldistoosmall · 06/04/2019 17:52

Give her 160 quid and cancel the trip and tell her to FO

Why would the op pay so much? Much easier to keep cash and tell her to fo if you want to go down that road.

AWishForWingsThatWork · 06/04/2019 17:52

I hope she's reasonable about your refusal to pay for her DD's share. She is being unreasonable in expecting you to; her DD, her expense.

huggybear · 06/04/2019 17:53

I'm here for the update 😁

Jux · 06/04/2019 17:55

Has she replied? Does she have form for this (love "crotch goblin" in the way Potterhead meant it!)?

If she insisted on you paying the extra I would be going with just the other friend. You have your own room, the pair of you, so I'd just leave CF to arrange her own trip separately. Do you have the tickets or is she holding them?

Enjoy the trip, anyway.

AcrossthePond55 · 06/04/2019 18:05

No way. In your case the room is paid for by the people sleeping in it!

When BFF and I travel she often brings her DD. If there's no extra cost we just split it. I figure it's 'fair' as I get a bed to myself and BFF has to share. But if it costs extra for a child, she pays 2/3 regardless of who sleeps where.

Crabbyandproudofit · 06/04/2019 18:06

Definitely you and your friend just pay £40 each for the room you are using.

However, had you discussed hotel rooms before the other friend booked? If she was expecting/hoping to book a family room for all 4 of you and you had all agreed to split that cost 3 ways (or add room and petrol costs and split 3 ways) then I can sort of understand her thinking.

Cheeky Cow

whyamievenamazeddotcom · 06/04/2019 18:14

Has there been a response yet?

Can’t believe she’s been so cheeky no wait actually I can an Exfriends husband did this always at meals ordered the most expensive wine (we didn’t drink) the most expensive thing on the menu (every course) while we mostly had either a starter and main or main and desert in the mid cost part of the menu then wanted to split it 50/50 our actual food and drink as a couple came to say 50 but with him and his OH and the CF 50/50 split was more like 80 we did say we’re on a budget and keeping costs down so pay our own bit after a few times of this happening but the abuse wasn’t worth it to top it they wanted picking up and dropping off and were a good few miles out of our way after a while we knocked that friendship on the head pretty quick as this happened far too often

RestingBitchFaced · 06/04/2019 18:44

She will be expecting to split food and drinks 3 ways too if she gets her way, glad you pulled her up on it OP. Waiting for reply

PotsOfJoy · 06/04/2019 19:04

My other friend has turned around and said that's around £53.50 each

YABU, I bet your friend didn't actually turn around.

canadianbanana · 06/04/2019 19:08

Cheeky as shite. I would start by asking her why she’s splitting it three ways. Then remind her there are 4 people, so everyone pays a quarter (and she will presumably pay her dd’s share). I would ask why she expects the two of you to help pay for her daughter’s share?

AmICrazyorWhat2 · 06/04/2019 19:13

Wow, that's real CFery. Last summer I went on a weekend trip with two other Mums and our various offspring. We all paid for our own children's accommodation, food, entrance fees to things, etc. It worked out well and everyone wants to do it again this year.

She'll soon find herself short of people to go away with if she keeps this up Hope she sees reason and you all have a great time!

kpdchudleigh · 06/04/2019 19:14

As the mother of a teenager I often book hotels where the teen is considered a child so goes free. I would clarify what the breakdown of the bill is before potentially falling out. Maybe she has based your share on the fact the hotel are not charging for her child? Not to say you all still shouldn't split the bill four ways but I would definitely check her thinking.

We're off to see Matilda in London this summer so hope you enjoy it and have a great trip.

Boysnme · 06/04/2019 19:21

We saw Matilda last night, it was amazing! You will love it!

I would also only pay £40 unless it was going to cause a lot of hassle, then I’d just split it 3 ways if you can afford to. I would be saying up front though regardless of what I paid for the rooms that I was only paying for my own meals and not subsidising your friends daughter.

HeartsTrumpDiamonds · 06/04/2019 19:41

We loved Matilda! Not the point of the thread I know Grin

madjakel · 06/04/2019 19:49

wow , friend is a CF. RUDE. waiting on the update.

clairemcnam · 06/04/2019 20:06

kpd The OP has explained that the room her and her friend are sharing costs £89, so £40 each. The teenager and mother are sharing the other room. And yes the mother is trying to get her friends to pay for half of her room cost.

Definefun · 06/04/2019 20:13

Totally cheeky. 40 quid for you.
