Hi everyone.
We have sky entertainment bundle (no kids, sports, movies)
Multi room ( 2 boxes altogether)
HD
Box sets
Broadband
Line rental- however we don’t even have a house phone.

Our bill has just gone up to £62. Is this about right? I called last night to see if there was anything they could do but they couldn’t budge on price- I even said to cancel it and they still couldn’t come up with anything!

You can't record on now tv. I'm currently paying £20 a month for a sky sports month pass. I'll cancel it when the football season ends, and renew again when it starts again in August. Usual price for a monthly pass is £33.

HostessTrolley · 04/04/2019 13:16

And we’re paying for Netflix and amazon prime on top - although prime we get for the delivery and do use a lot 😳

HoozThatGirl · 04/04/2019 14:44

Why are you paying an optional extra £12 for insurance hostess?
I forgot about Netflix which is included in my £82.
I had no idea you could retain the ability to record, because that for me is the biggest attraction. I know there are other ways to record but skyplus is just brilliant. Can you record off iPlayer etc?

Unihorn · 04/04/2019 14:48

My parents had the full package with HD, Sports, Movies, Entertainment, Q and mini boxes in 3 rooms, boxsets etc. for £42 a month after being with Sky since it's inception. It finally went up to £62 this month and they cancelled. Sky keep trying to get them back by offering the full package for £52 but my mum refuses to budge, even though she's still getting a crazy deal!

Adelais · 04/04/2019 18:06

We have Sky Q plus 4 mini boxes and get
Sky Entertainment
Sky kids
Sky sports
Sky cinema
Box sets
All for £55.

HostessTrolley · 04/04/2019 18:10

Because when we moved into the house, I sorted out registering the gas, electricity, water, council tax etc. Husband sorted out the tv and broadband - I think he changed the broadband to fibre because the speed was poor, but has never revisited the sky....

Villanellesproudmum · 04/04/2019 18:16

We have got entertainment, movies, broadband and phone for £52.

Queenie8 · 04/04/2019 18:30

Ffs 😡 we're paying £113 a month!!!!
SkyQ multiroom
Fibre broadband (its crap and drops out often)
Telephone and any time calls
Sky kids, sports, and BT sports. No movies etc

Plus on top of that we pay for netflixs too.

The £113 is negotiated down from £132 pm.

Fluffyglitterbum · 04/04/2019 19:37

We've just started with sky and our new contract with them is £32 for sky Q, unlimited broadband and telephone calls including free evening and weekend calls I believe.

WelcomeToShootingStars · 04/04/2019 19:41

Sky Q - 2 rooms
All channels
Sports
Movies
Boxsets
HD
Unlimited fibre broadband
Line rental

£91

Isitteayourlookingfor · 04/04/2019 19:44

I think what you’ve got is very reasonable, especially if you have broadband and line rental. I’d say it’s an absolute bargain.

cardibach · 04/04/2019 19:45

I gave it up and have Now entertainment for £7.99. Sky spent a good 6 m9nths phoning me and writing to me to offer cheaper deals. This has made me determined to never use them again. They are still making money on those cheap deals (60% off eventually) so could have been the standard price. They clearly rip everyone off.
I pay for Netflix too, and a separate phone and internet deal. Even if 8 add in my Spotify, it’s less than I was paying Sky.

Yorkshirepudding1987 · 04/04/2019 19:47

Sky Q
Entertainment package
Sky kids
Line rental
Unlimited fibre
Sky go

£45 a month.

That was after I said I was leaving, then yesterday they billed me for £49 due to price increase, I contacted them said I wasn't paying it, he said £47 was best they could do, told them again I'm not paying more than £45 so they miraculously got down to £45

Piewife · 04/04/2019 19:51

Cancel then they will call you a couple of weeks later and offer you a much better deal. Or you can call them during that time and speak to the returning customers department. They can't give the best deals until you've actually cancelled.

Ours was up to £41.50, called to cancel and they offered £30. Cancelled. A week later they offered the same package for £18. Sky Q, entertainment, kids, box sets and HD. I said yes 😁

DanielRicciardosSmile · 04/04/2019 20:50

The Now TV sports pass sounds interesting, but if it's £33 a month then, for what would be 9-10 months of the year, doesn't sound like it would save us much personally when added into basic/medium TV package and Broadband.

jigsawmaniac · 04/04/2019 21:16

We have:
Sky Q with movies and box sets (no sport) and one extra box in the bedroom. Unlimited broadband. Been a customer for many years and just gone up to about £107 a month and I pay Netflix on top of that! I'm going to have to get on the phone to them! Seems far too much compared to most of you.

Glittery1 · 04/04/2019 21:20

That sounds alright OP.

I have the most basic sky tv (no movies, kids, sports or box sets) and no broadband.

I pay £46 per month

Sewfrickinamazeballs · 04/04/2019 21:29

£105 for the everything within the TV package, skyQ, phone and unlimited broadband! Soooo expensive, but we use all of the TV sections so worth it I suppose

skippy67 · 05/04/2019 08:33

There's no subscription for a now pass though. So you only pay for it when you want it. We tend to bin it over the summer and reactivate when the football starts again.

Baxdream · 05/04/2019 08:52

Freeview aerial
Fire sticks
Netflix

Virgin/sky are a waste of money (in my opinion)

Raspberrytruffle · 05/04/2019 09:07

I'm glad I left sky it kept going up and they also kept taking money twice every month, 70/80 pounds for basic package, they refused to negotiate giving me a better deal even when I said ok I'm leaving, as soon as I left though they were constantly on the phone apologising and begging us to come back. I said you had the chance to keep us as a customer but didn't seem to care plus we had been with them years. We went with bt in the end and much happier, better service and price. Its been two years and we still get the come back to us letters

Raspberrytruffle · 05/04/2019 09:08

Also agree Netflix are great, better than sky movies

BeanBag7 · 05/04/2019 09:11

Broadband and line rental
Sky TV
Box sets

£30 PM

I have had sky since 2012 and never paid full price, there is always room for negotiation with sky. We dont usually have box sets but got an offer through the post to get it for £1 a month so went for that.

AliceRR · 05/04/2019 09:15

We just moved house and that sounds about right for the “quote” I got on the Sky website

We actually have Now TV (we got it at Christmas) which is a stick and you can sort of pay as you go (no contract - like Netflix) but it is all Sky channels. We pay £7.99 for Sky the entertainment channels, £5 a month for movies (usually £10 but we got a deal for 3 months) and then we have Netflix which is also about £7.99.

We needed internet so looked at Sky first and I got a quote similar to yours online.

With Now TV broadband (again, through Sky I believe) it is £30 a month for the broadband but the Sky entertainment package is free for six months. So we will be saving £7.99 off what we have been paying for TV - £30 plus £5 for movies (£10 when it goes up in May but we will probably get rid as we don’t use it) and we have Netflix too.

We only have one “Smart” TV but we can watch it on more than one device so wonder whether can have it in two TVs at once for the same price 🤔

I would suggest you look into Now TV

It was the best deal I could find and that was only a week or two ago

Bravelurker · 05/04/2019 12:09

I'm about to do the dance with sky that we do every couple of years where I cancel or threaten to and they do everything to win me back.
It's worked in the past but they always sneak their prices back up.
I pay £47 for the most basic TV and broadband. Oh and don't forget, telephone which I don't have.
