To think there is nothing better than rewatching a favourite series after a few years break?

Just rewatched all of Buffy for the first time in absolute years. Enjoyed it even more this time perhaps as I already knew how good it was going to be. Thinking maybe going back to the West Wing next.

Wentworth Miller turned up on Legends of Tomorrow/ Arrow / Flash. Oooh Yes

DashOfMagic · 06/04/2019 10:31

No YADNBU! I love a rewatch Grin they’re so reliable. I have rewatched buffy too. And Gilmore girls, greys anatomy etc. I am trying to persuade DH to rewatch all GOT before the last series comes out.

Pinkcar21 · 06/04/2019 10:55

I love rewatching mini series, mainly period dramas. The crimson field, north and south and the 2006 Jane Eyre are my absolute comfort shows. Normally in the winter with a big cup of tea under a blanket.

HelenaDove · 06/04/2019 17:17

North and South. The one with Patrick Swayze and Lesley Anne Down?

Does anyone else remember Return to Eden.

I just bought 6 Feet Under and its as good as I remember.

Driftingthoughlife · 07/04/2019 01:18

Just rewatched Monarch of the Glen loved it even more the second time
But when I watched friends again I hated it I didn’t realise how sexist and homophobic it was the first time. It doesn’t stand the test of time well at all

HelenaDove · 07/04/2019 02:04

Agree with you about Friends.

The 90s still feels too recent to me to be vintage to me. I guess it depends on your age as time moves faster as we get older.

im in my forties so vintage to me is 60s 70s TV and the 80s TV i grew up watching.

newmun · 07/04/2019 05:09

@hotpriest where did you watch buffy? Dvds or will i find it online? Absolutely obsessed with it 😅 x

TreesoftheField · 07/04/2019 06:16

Doing 30 rock right now. The dialogue is so quick you can pick up so much new every time.

ComeOnGordon · 07/04/2019 06:20

Some of these series are like comfort tv for me - SATC, friends & greys. I don’t have to concentrate 100% & it feels like old friends are coming to visit. I sometimes have them running while I’m cooking.

At the end of season 3 of greys for maybe the 3rd time. Very irritated by George O’Malley Angry - wet & pathetic & Cali would never really have been interested in him

Justme10 · 07/04/2019 06:29

@newmun you can watch them on amazon prime but you can buy the dvds on amazon as well Smile

bettyshine · 07/04/2019 06:31

I've watched Gilmore girls 3 times. I think I might start a mad men rewatch soon.

PrivateIsles · 07/04/2019 07:25

I love a good re-watch. The Colin Firth/Jennifer Ehle Pride and Prejudice, the Joan Hickson Miss Marple series, and old Midsomer Murders (John Nettles episodes) are my favourites, although I can't say I've come back to any of them after a long time, I just re-watch them regularly!

But we've recently started watching a couple of things with DS that I hadn't seen for ages: Due South, which we're recording from one of the Sky channels, I can't remember which one now. But that's really good - Fraser is a really different kind of "hero", love him!

And we've started watching the Lois and Clark dvds as well, the Dean Cain/Teri Hatcher series, which I also hadn't seen for ages. And that's great as well!

Good thread OP! YANBU!

MaggieAndHopey · 07/04/2019 07:35

I think I've watched Battlestar Galactica all the way through 3 times now. It really does keep on giving. I do keep meaning to re-watch a lot of my other old favourites, like House, Curb Your Enthusiasm, The Wire, Sopranos, but there's always so many tempting new things on that I never seem to find the time.

HotPriest · 07/04/2019 08:17

@newmun if you have Amazon Prime you'll find all series of Buffy are free on there.

6 feet under is a great rewatch

I am also informed that Bodies in on Iplayer

OldSpeclkledHen · 07/04/2019 08:30

All creatures great and small 😳😳 when I can find it on Drama

PrivateIsles · 07/04/2019 09:37

OldSpeclkledHen love All Creatures - such a Sunday tea time programme! I used to love Peter Davison's character the most!

DashOfMagic · 07/04/2019 09:39

It’s funny isn’t it, you can feel totally different about characters the second time round. I loved Izzie and hated Meredith and then that completely changed on the second watch Confused

Also I am just finishing rewatching Dawson’s Creek and have found it hard work! It’s all warm and nostalgic, but also really cringey and infuriating now!

HoozThatGirl · 07/04/2019 10:33

After reading this thread I started back at episode 1 of Spooks.
It was one of my all time favourite series and was very topical at the time, started in 2002 IIRC. I thought it might not stand the test of time with the political content and the cutting edge technology now being dated. I'm hooked straight away and it's not even Richard Armitage.

I might go back to Greys which I abandoned after about series 10. Watched it with one of my DC when they were going through a tricky time and it was very therapeutic at the time.

BadPennyNoBiscuit · 07/04/2019 11:51

Has anyone found This Life online, and is it still watchable?

thebookeatinggirl · 07/04/2019 12:09

I recently found This Life, and thoroughly enjoyed watching it. So sad it was only one series. It was on some dodgy streaming site, which I wouldn't recommend, and was poor quality, but worth it for the nostalgia.

I'm enjoying re-watching stuff with my older now teenagers. We've done Lost, Last Man on Earth and 24. Give them a couple of years and I can't wait to watch Battlestar Gallatica, Walking Dead and Breaking Bad. They can find Game of Thrones on their own - I'm sure they don't want to watch that much sex with Ma and Pa...

HoozThatGirl · 07/04/2019 12:12

thebookeatinggirl where did you find Lost?

thebookeatinggirl · 07/04/2019 12:18

We went old school and bought boxset DVDs from eBay.

louisvootin · 07/04/2019 12:20
