To think there is nothing better than rewatching a favourite series after a few years break?

Just rewatched all of Buffy for the first time in absolute years. Enjoyed it even more this time perhaps as I already knew how good it was going to be. Thinking maybe going back to the West Wing next.

Absolutely nothing wrong with re-watching old shows, in fact, we do it quite often. We always watch Life on Mars and Ashes to Ashes starting in December and ending somewhere between Christmas and New Year.

Also, we're currently rewatching Hi -de-Hi (I know!) and How I Met Your Mother. It's funny the things you notice that you didn't notice the first (or second!) time around. Other shows we've revisited include Eureka, The American Office, Friends, Parks & Recreation, Warehouse 13 and Chuck. I love to go back and re-watch old series. I may need to get a life though!

Oh mustn't forget one of my favourite on Prime - Lucifer. Not prepared to say how many times I've rewatched it Smile

I'm wondering if we are rewatching this stuff because it's so good or that most alternatives on Netflix and Prime aren't worth watching? I also have a moan about Prime because very often if I find something I do want to watch, it doesn't have subtitles. I can't manage without and there are loads on Prime without. I need to complain.

Every February half term I watch Being Human. Love it.

Off the back of this thread I'm now feeling the need for Storm Drain Clooney. Grin

minionsrule · 04/04/2019 13:21

I rewatched all of ER when I was recovering from my hysterectomy a few years ago, was great.

I love binge watching shows, currently watching Orange Is The New Black while I'm recovering from another operation.

FortyFacedFuckers · 04/04/2019 13:36

I keep looking on sky & Netflix for desperate housewives to rewatch! I used to love that!

DaisyBD · 04/04/2019 13:44

I've watched Breaking Bad three times so far and I'm tempted to start my 4th Grin

BigFatGoalie · 04/04/2019 13:49

We’ve just rewatched Prison Break again. The whole thing including the new series. I could watch Wentworth Miller ALL DAY LONG 😍
He got a bit chubby in season 5 but is back to his full-form of deliciousness in the final series.
When he kissed Sarah Tancredi in the first season I smiled like a Cheshire Cat. DH looked and me and said “isn’t it sweet?”
Yep. Sure. That’s exactly what I was thinking....Grin

TeaMeBasil · 04/04/2019 14:04

Love a rewatch! Just finished all of Greys, verrrrrrry nearly finished rewatching GoT - so many details I picked up this time round!

And Firefly gets a full rewatch every winter - for some reason a summer rewatch wouldn't work, gotta be bundled up cosy weather!

Ragnarthe · 04/04/2019 14:15

Have re-watched GOT, the Sopranos, Mad Men (twice), ER, the Good Wife (superb both times).
Would really like to watch Buffy again, god I was in luuuurrrvvveee with Spike back in the day.

Serenity45 · 04/04/2019 15:28

Not a big rewatcher myself as there are so many cool shows on atm and so little time. But husband LOVES to rewatch, he finds it comforting. I know he's seen West Wing (his absolute favourite, which I agree was fab) about 5 times.

Loved lots of the shows mentioned though! Buffy, Lost, ER, Brooklyn 99, US Office, Breaking Bad... and Nessie I thought Misfits was brilliant!

CoolCarrie · 04/04/2019 15:37

Is The Thick Of It on Netflix or Amazon does anyone know?
Watching Line Of Duty from the start again, and rewatch the original Upstairs, Downstairs, and the BBC sequel every year, also Home Fires.

CoolCarrie · 04/04/2019 15:38

Posted too soon Cranford is another favourite to rewatch

JustHereWithMyPopcorn · 04/04/2019 15:41

@MissFitton YES! to Being Human, one of my favourite programmes ever. I was so upset when it finished.

Also Spooks. Have been watching on Catch Up recently.

HotPriest · 04/04/2019 16:08

Glad to see I am not the only one who has a little crush on Spike. Despite the slight dick van dyke cockney accent.

Was opening this thread thinking "Wonder if it's Buffy too" as I'm re-watching it at the moment and it's wonderful. I started watching when I was 12 and the show finished when I was around 16 and I've probably watched it in its entirety 3 times since then with lots of random episodes watched.

But started watching recently after a long break and I am just amazed how much I still love it. I am a proper buffy geek - met many of the stars. But nothing gets me like this show and it takes me back to a very happy place (even though my teen years were actually not very happy...except for this show)

Currently watching S5 which is my fave but even S1 was bloody good this time around (with that being people's least fave usually).

DeadWife · 04/04/2019 17:00

For me it's the same as books, only a very special minority get rewatched/reread. And you often get so much more from them the second time around.

IvanaPee · 04/04/2019 17:25

Like The Belgariad books!

All I want in life is for Netflix to make The Belgariad.

haverhill · 04/04/2019 17:31

I recently rewatched Northern Exposure and it was just as beguiling 20 years on. I also have The Good Life which is watched whenever I need to feel extra cosy Grin

Justme10 · 04/04/2019 17:54

Just finished my buffy rewatch and now starting on angel Grin
Another one with a spike crush 😍

Lemonsquinky · 04/04/2019 18:05

TarragonSauce and DirtyDennis, me too. Josh Holloway is in Colony on Prime I think. I used him to demonstrate what 'chiseled ' meant to ds1.

Lemonsquinky · 04/04/2019 18:10

BigFatGoalie, the actress that plays Sarah Tancredi, plays the wife of Josh Holloway in Colony. I can't tell you how jealous I am that she gets to kiss them and get paid !Wentworth Miller is so beautiful. He was used to explain to ds1 who was a beautiful man not a chiseled man, like Josh Holloway! I'm really embarrassing apparently.
