Like pizza without cheese, or a hotdog without a bun? What meal have you ever ruined?

Served Bolognaise with courgetti....never again

Fairypiggy · 03/04/2019 03:44

Followed a recipe using leeks instead of pasta sheets. Recipe promised ‘you will never know the difference’. Texture was like stringy plastic bags in mince!

Alicewond · 03/04/2019 03:48

They both sound grim 😂

DownUdderer · 03/04/2019 03:50

These both made me laugh!

I once followed an American recipe with yogurt instead of a white sauce, another ‘you’ll never know the difference’ type of thing. Nah, it was gross.

Alicewond · 03/04/2019 03:52

@DownUdderer beef trifle on that episode of friends anyone... no it does not taste good! 😂

scatteredglitter · 03/04/2019 03:57

Not me but my MIl who is super conscious of her diet made cheesecake with cremenfraiche and low fat cottage cheese and lemon juice, and no sugar digestive biscuits for the base. Grim.
Why bother? Just skip desert !

Alicewond · 03/04/2019 04:03

@scatteredglitter that doesn’t sound pleasant even to people watching their weight!

First ever stir fry, offered to cook for a friend. I dutifully chopped veg and chicken, stir fried it and served it up with rice. Didn't realise there needed to be some kind of sauce or liquid to make it not taste like cardboard.

Alicewond · 03/04/2019 04:13

@SnowsInWater so just dry chicken and veg with rice?? Yummy! 😂

OP posts:
SnowsInWater · 03/04/2019 04:25

Yes, and my friend dutifully ate it 😂😂😂

Alicewond · 03/04/2019 04:28

@SnowsInWater you tried, yep you failed, but at least you tried 😂😂

I have a couple of friends doing slimming world and keep making things like free curry and bolognaise, which taste totally bland and really unappetising.

They keep saying they are free, you can eat as much as you want, the question remains why the hell you'd want to.

Ohyesiam · 03/04/2019 05:41

the question remains why the hell you'd want to.
Well, to lose weight. It’s a sacrifice with a goal in mind. Not that hard to understand.

HennyPennyHorror · 03/04/2019 06:06

Dh is a fool person who likes to try different fad diets.

He's decided gluten is BAD and so bought some gluten free pizza bases.

Ok I thought...I'm open minded.

Open the packet last night to make the family pizzas. The pack contained TWO bases my friends.

TWO miniscule bases. For four of us! Twat. My beautiful home made pizza dough will NEVER be shoved aside again!! They were like cardboard. Literally.

HennyPennyHorror · 03/04/2019 06:07

Blunt how can curry or bolognaise be "free"? What's in them? Air?

Shangrilalala · 03/04/2019 06:13

Isn’t a hot dog without a bun just a sausage?

todayiwin · 03/04/2019 06:19

@Ohyesiam but eating more and stuffing yourself with "free" foods doesn't equal weight loss

Less calories in. More calories out equals weight loss.

Now that's not hard to understand is it?

WhiteDust · 03/04/2019 06:38

Lasagne made with cottage cheese instead of cheese sauce. Add to that wholemeal lasagne sheets and you have the most disgusting lasagne ever made.

Fairypiggy · 03/04/2019 07:52

I think the bland slimming world bolgenese/curry is more due to lack of seasoning. Spices/seasoning can be used in SW recipes.

KeptTheBeachesShipwreckFree · 03/04/2019 08:36

Domino's once delivered us a pizza where they'd forgotten to put the cheese on. We didn't eat it and just got them to replace it (which was late and cold so they replaced the replacement).

Bluntness100 · 03/04/2019 10:18

I'm not sure how they are "free" or what goes on with slimming world, but we are a close knit group of friends, and have dinner at each other's often, and now we all only cook things that can be eaten on a slimming world diet. So everyone feels included. I've never attempted to make the bolognaise or the curry, but as aaid' they are "free apparently" and one can eat as much as one wishes. It's fat free basically I think.

The point I was making is you couldn't eat a lot of it, as it's not very nice and definitely not moreish. Which actually may he what slimming world is aiming for, make it as shite as possible then it acts as a natural appetite suppressant.🤣

Pinkcar21 · 03/04/2019 11:59

Slimming world makes people do crazy things. The other day I saw an omelette with weetabix in because they wanted a cake..? What??

I eat chicken crisps with chocolate buttons, I put my McDonald’s on a plate and I have bunless burgers with extra gherkins. I’m a monster.
