Not as in won the lottery but as in it wouldn’t change your world beyond adult company and a bit of a life outside the house ?

Not a chance.

GregoryPeckingDuck · 02/04/2019 19:09

Ha ha no. Why? I’m perfectly capable of keeping myself entertained without missing out on massive chincks of my life doing work for other people.

AndOfCourseHenryTheHorse · 02/04/2019 19:11

I probably would. Something fun and part time. I once did a stint in a fine dining, Michelin star restaurant as a hostess. I’d do something like that. It was great.

ValleyoftheHorses · 02/04/2019 19:11

Mm maybe. 1 or 2 days doing my University job. I enjoy it and it would give me something to do.

Redorangeyellowgreen · 02/04/2019 19:12

No way!

SavageBeauty73 · 02/04/2019 19:13

No.

JaneEyre07 · 02/04/2019 19:13

I didn't for nearly 20 years. And loved every moment. I did lots of baking, walking, photography. Filled every moment.

I'm working with DH now as they need the extra help but it's only 2 days a week and that's more than enough.

Youmadorwhat · 02/04/2019 19:13

I work and financially I don’t have to!! Psychologically though....yes I do!! 5 years at home with DC was enough for me 😂😂

OnlyFoolsnMothers · 02/04/2019 19:13

Hell no

StephsCaddy · 02/04/2019 19:14

No.

moglovesredroses · 02/04/2019 19:14

Maybe 1 day a week. But no more.

HarrysOwl · 02/04/2019 19:14

Really interested to see replies!

I'm lucky enough to be financially okay - enough to not work. Can't say too much as it'll be outing but I'm more-or-less retired in my mid 30s. My own money, not DHs.

It's really not as great as I thought it'd be, and I'm looking into training/education/volunteering as I feel I'm really missing 'meaning' in my life.

I've done the travelling, the spontaneous trips, the moving around...now I need a bit of stability and routine back.

NeedAUsernameGenerator · 02/04/2019 19:14

I don't know, I like working a lot and think it helps my mental health but I would like the freedom to take more holidays and pick my own hours. It would also depend on whether DH was still working.

Mmmhmmokdear · 02/04/2019 19:14

I think I'd do something. Some kind of volunteering or charity work? Not paid work.

1CantPickAName · 02/04/2019 19:15

Only for the adult company element. I’d start my own business if I could

Shmithecat2 · 02/04/2019 19:15

I don't work, I'm a sahm, and I don't have to work. But after nearly 4yo of being a sahm, I'd give my right arm to work again. It's dull AF.

OldAndWornOut · 02/04/2019 19:15

Nope.
I would probably do some volunteering if I felt I had to do something, but generally I'm more than happy to just be at home.

Shmithecat2 · 02/04/2019 19:15

I'd quite like to have my own bed and breakfast

EnglishRose13 · 02/04/2019 19:16

I used to think I would but absolutely no way.

WafflingDreamer · 02/04/2019 19:17

No, if I didnt need to work financially then I wouldn't. I'm a nurse I like my job but there are much easier ways of having adult conversation and a bit of a life.

BiscuitDrama · 02/04/2019 19:17

Yes, because otherwise I’d be the housekeeper.

CatToddlerUprising · 02/04/2019 19:18

If by not working meant I would be financially reliant on someone else then I would work. I would not want the risk of a relationship break down, being left with nothing etc.

Eliza9919 · 02/04/2019 19:18

No!

SparklyLeprechaun · 02/04/2019 19:19

Yes. Knowing I don't have to would reduce a lot of the stress. I could even get a lower paid job that I enjoy more.

Greenlegobox · 02/04/2019 19:19

Only if I could still afford to send the kids to creche. Being at home with them all day would drive me crazy very fast.
