Am I annoyed at nothing?

A work colleague said she forgot to bring her bank card in and she needed to get her mum a bottle of wine for her birthday. She asked if I could buy it and she would transfer the money by online banking.

I bought it and sent her my bank details as requested. She said she would do it later. This was yesterday.

I asked this morning about it and she said she'd do it at lunch time. Lunch has past and she hasn't transferred.

Do I look desperate if I ask again? It's only £7 but it's not the point! It's money I could do without losing!

Although that doesn't explain the offer of buying me wine. That must have been a terrible joke I didn't get...

Well done! How did she pay you?

ContessaIsOnADietDammit · 03/04/2019 14:09

Bet she doesn't ask you again! Well done op Grin

DameDiazepamTheDramaQueen · 03/04/2019 14:10

Maybe she was being genuine and kept forgetting. My bad!

That's exactly why she targeted you, don't make excuses for her.

Well done!

Happynow001 · 03/04/2019 14:12

Great! Well done OP! 😄

Maybe she was being genuine and kept forgetting. My bad!
Really not! She has a thick hide but you got through it by your persistence.

And no she didn't forget. Remember:
I said I didn't want any wine and she changed the fucking topic of conversation

Be prepared next time OP and have your excuse ready!

Drum2018 · 03/04/2019 14:12

Good on you for persisting. She obviously realised you are not a pushover. Never get sucked in again though.

Babyhumps · 03/04/2019 14:15

Oh god OP, you can'tet her get away with this.. Even if its only to save the sanity of the posters on here... We're all furious on your behalf!! She can't get away with being so f***g cheeky!!! My mums neighbour asked my mum to buy a substantial amount of stuff (about £50 worth) from the shop she got a discount at and she would pay her straight back, never did of course because my mum is soft and puts up with crap! Do not be my mum op!! Raging!

Babyhumps · 03/04/2019 14:16

Oh posted before seeing your update. Bloody well done OP, you should be rightly proud of yourself for persevering! 👍

somuchinfo · 03/04/2019 14:17

I would be furious, she should have done it by now. You shouldn't have to badger her for it. You may just have to swallow it, put it down as a lesson learned. And never help her out again. It amazes me that these ppl have the sheer nerve to do stuff like this. I wouldn't dream of asking someone. If I forgot my bank card I would wait until I had it to buy what I needed. Whatever the reason.

GreatDuckCookery · 03/04/2019 14:20

Oh good I’m glad she’s paid you.
Maybe she’s seen this thread?!

coolas90 · 03/04/2019 14:46

Lesson learned! Next time don't be so helpful as people take advantage!

She's a mumsnetter. Must be. Maybe she'll now buy you a bottle AS A GIFT to apologise for trying to take the piss....

coolas90 · 03/04/2019 16:08

Oh gosh I hope not Blush

YANBU but remember - never lend money that you wouldn't write off.

PonyoPonyo · 03/04/2019 19:04

Not that there will be a next time, but if there was, get her to transfer the money over before you make the purchase.

Bravelurker · 03/04/2019 19:37

My DM haunted someone for months by turning up at her house for £5 Grin, out of sheer principle. She has no shame and she is my hero.

People like this and those who refuse to move out of reserved seats on trains, rely on you not wanting to seem petty and I will have none of it.

Isitteayourlookingfor · 03/04/2019 19:50

That’s what cf rely on, that you get embarrassed by having to keep asking and give up so it’s usually a win for them .well done on keeping asking.
Next time be better prepared with a stock phrase.
I don’t have any money/card on me or similar.
