...or has the quality of Photobox prints deteriorated?

Ordered some prints for mothers day gift. It's been a while since i bought any and the quality of them was very poor. Fuzzy and low focus even though I took the photos on my v high end DSLR. Has anybody else noticed this and who do you use for photo prints online if not Photobox?

Cost of camera is no guarantee of quality of image and focus is generally user error rather than an issue with printing, but Photobox have always been at the more budget end of online printing.

Pick a sample of images and try DSCL. I've used them for several years and their quality is very good. Their art printing service is fantastic.

I have ordered photobooks from them for years and was very disapointed with my most recent one. It looked like the photos were fuzzy and the colours very flat. Also taken on a DSLR. I'm pretty sure the images were of my usual standard.

Dscl are excellent, although I do get photobox canvases occasionally when they're on offer. You also need to check if your monitor is calibrated properly .

When I had a problem with Photobox over picture quality, they explained that it could be due to a high volume of orders going in which meant that they weren't checked thoroughly. I know that's not really an acceptable excuse but they reprinted all of my order for free without even being asked and the new ones were better. Definitely worth enquiring.

Thanks for the recommendation. This is the second bad order I've had from photobox in the last 6 months. The photos were perfectly in focus when I edited them on screen hence why I was so surprised by the printed results. Due to digital world I only print a very few, special images so I want them to be decent quality.
Will check out DSCL.

Funnily enough I ordered prints through snap fish which I’ve done many times before and they’re a mess. Very blurred.

If it's special images being printed for framing, definitely go with DSCL and the art paper option.

If they've come back soft, has something gone wrong in uploading the images? - maybe they'be uploaded sized for a smaller print than the size selected.

I have ordered books from photobox for the last six years. This years was poor quality by comparison. I contacted them, sent images of the photos I wasn't happy with and they sent me a replacement book. It's perfect!

Thanks yumscrum, I am going to have a go at complaining!
