I've searched high and low and I need the floating tv unit... it looks pretty simple to find but it's not! Help Grin

ikea?

FirstNameTiredLastNameAlways · 01/04/2019 20:34

I've looked but I can't find anything like that... it does look very Ikea!

Ffsnosexallowed · 01/04/2019 20:34

It's not a TV unit, it's a shelf?

FirstNameTiredLastNameAlways · 01/04/2019 20:35

I know, but I'm going to use it as a TV unit. Whatever it is, I want it...

ImNotTheDramaLlamaHere · 01/04/2019 20:36

It's a floating shelf, there's loads of them if you search it. 🤷🏼‍♀️

FirstNameTiredLastNameAlways · 01/04/2019 20:39

There's really not though 🤷🏼‍♀️

The tv is mounted on the wall.

killpop · 01/04/2019 20:41

Is the tv not on the wall?

loztredders · 01/04/2019 20:43

IceRebel · 01/04/2019 20:46

The TV is attached to the wall, and the shelf below is a floating box shelf.

FirstNameTiredLastNameAlways · 01/04/2019 20:51

I mean the shelf thing, it's not used as a TV unit in the picture but I'll be using it as one if I can get it Smile

OP posts:
Iltavilli · 01/04/2019 20:54

I wouldn’t, OP, it isn’t very nice

Samind · 01/04/2019 20:54

Could you not contact the site that you've seen it on and ask?

FirstNameTiredLastNameAlways · 01/04/2019 20:56

@Samind I found the picture on Pinterest and it doesn't give the link.

I basically have a tiny bedroom but I want a TV somewhere... it may not be everyone's cup of tea but that isn't the AIBU here Smile

I don't have much choice unless it's something like that.

IceRebel · 01/04/2019 20:57

It looks a lot like this, in which case the poster was correct you need to head to Ikea

Bamchic · 01/04/2019 20:59

I would seriously consider affixing the telly to the wall as here. I knocked mine off a slim shelf and it was only 3 weeks old!!

IceRebel · 01/04/2019 21:01

I basically have a tiny bedroom but I want a TV somewhere

If it's such a small room why not attach the TV to the wall? Seems daft to add a tv stand when space is at a premium.

WhatToDoAboutWailmerGoneRogue · 01/04/2019 21:03

it may not be everyone's cup of tea but that isn't the AIBU here

So what is the AIBU?

Em308 · 01/04/2019 21:13

Those types of shelves do not take very much weight.

sirmione16 · 01/04/2019 21:46

I agree with a pp, I wouldn't put a substantial TV on a floating shelf like that :S looks like a middle of the night crash waiting to happen.

PurpleCrazyHorse · 01/04/2019 21:47

I agree with fixing your TV to wall, even if you put the shelf below. It really won't take the weight and one small knock and your TV will be on the floor.

Our experience with floating shelves (attached with huge screws with specialist rawl plugs), is that they weren't good for anything more than a couple of picture frames! There's a reason why shelves have shelf brackets Grin
