To hope that there is someone on here who appreciates what a lovely DS they have

I was in a cash converters shop in the Sefton area yesterday and was approached very politely by a young person - I’m not great on guessing ages but estimate 10-12 he was trying to sell a remote control car and had been turned away as he had to be 16+ to carry out the transaction
He was with a friend who explained to me that he wanted the money to buy something for his Mum for mother’s day
I agreed to help them with doing the deal
Sadly they didn’t get offered very much money for the car and went away disappointed
I was so touched that I offered him some money to buy something for his Mum anyway but he wouldn’t take anything off me
At this point my DP who had been elsewhere appeared and asked what was going on as I explained he managed to persuade the young lad that it was only a token amount and we really wanted him to have it - eventually he reluctantly accepted and thanked us
I’ve no idea if his Mum is on here - but it was obvious how much he loved and cared about her. I hope she is very proud of how well he has been brought up and hope he didn’t get too much grief about where he got the money from
I’ve been out today with my much older DC and have been treated to coffee, cocktails, ghetto golf, cards, presents and a lovely evening meal, along with train tickets and taxi fares and generally spoilt but I couldn’t get this young lad out of my mind and hope his Mum loves and appreciates him as much as I do mine

That is just lovely! You are so kind to have given him some money, lovely thing to do. I hope his mum knows what a lovely boy she has and I hope your dc appreciate your kindness too. What a lovely story!

Yes that’s lovely...

JaceLancs · 31/03/2019 23:36

Thank you! It was only a few £s
When I was a struggling lone parent I always appreciated that my DM took my DC to get me a card and token present - bunch of daffodils or cheap box of chocolates - she had many failings but could also be thoughtful and exDH wouldn’t have bothered - I know how much it meant to my DC at the time, before they had money of their own to treat me with

This is a lovely story.

But I need to know what ghetto golf is.

It’s indoor crazy golf in a brewery (although I stuck to cocktails)
What’s not to like?
There were lots of Mother’s Day golf groups there today
