What to do about Amazon item?

So I ordered an item from Amazon a few weeks ago but it never arrived.

I wrote to the seller requesting tracking details but was told that because it was under £10, it didn’t have one.

After waiting another few days, I opened a refund request with Amazon which was accepted.

Thought no more of it but on Friday, I finally received the item.

I tried to email the company but no response yet. I tried to ring Amazon but they didn’t pick up.

It’s such a hassle! I wish I hadn’t bloody ordered it in the first place now.

I can’t send it back because it was from a seller on marketplace and they didn’t include a return label.

What should I do?

do nothing 🤷‍♀️

NellyGetYourCoat · 31/03/2019 15:29

But isn’t that stealing?

Plus, I don’t want it to be a black mark against my account on Amazon if it gets raised by the seller.

if there is no tracking then no proof you have it..

Expressedways · 31/03/2019 15:31

Don’t Amazon have an online chat? You could try that. Or just ignore it and keep it, it’s £10 and there’s a finite amount of time that is reasonable to spend on this. It’s not your fault they didn’t send it tracked and it took weeks to arrive.

Just keep it. I've had similar ordering from Chinese manufacturers on Amazon. It's less than £10, like you said.

MrsSchadenfreude · 31/03/2019 15:32

Contact Amazon via their chat app and they can resolve it quickly.

CoperCabana · 31/03/2019 15:33

Online chat with Amazon. They will tell you to keep it and then you have it in writing.

Pinkprincess1978 · 31/03/2019 15:34

Amazon will tell you to keep it. It's happened to us a few times. They do answer emails really quickly so send them a message. Tell them you don't want it anymore as it was too late/replaced etc and you will most likely be told to keep it.

Bluntness100 · 31/03/2019 15:35

Do online chat, explain you've now received the item.

sunshineandshowers21 · 31/03/2019 15:38

i’ve had a few faulty items from amazon over the years and they’ve always refunded the money and said i don’t need to return the item. i’d imagine they’d say the same to you.

MrTumblePulledAKnifeOnMe · 31/03/2019 15:39

I would say it depends on what the item is and who sold it. Not all sellers on Amazon are large e-commerce businesses, there are small hand made business where we rely on customer honesty and every pound counts in supporting small businesses.

If this happened to me, I'd appreciate your honesty and tell you to keep the item.

Unfortunately, Amazons seller interface is terrible for customer messages.

SnowyAlpsandPeaks · 31/03/2019 15:40

Amazon will tell you to keep it. Had this happen a few times.

Tomtontom · 31/03/2019 15:41

If you messaged the seller on Friday you need to give them chance to answer!

Quite possible they'll tell you to keep it.

NellyGetYourCoat · 31/03/2019 15:50

Just managed to speak with someone from Amazon.

They are going to contact the seller and see if they say keep the item or send me a returns label.

What a palaver!

i’ve had a few faulty items from amazon over the years and they’ve always refunded the money and said i don’t need to return the item. i’d imagine they’d say the same to you.

OTOH, I was sent a jar of jam that wasn't properly packed and arrived broken. Amazon made me return the whole sticky, broken glass encrusted mess in order to get a refund.
