I live with three boys (if I include my DH). Movies in our house tend towards the superhero end of things usually. However they have agreed today I get to choose!! Please can you recommend something that I’ll love but also that’s suitable for a 4 and 7 year old. I thought My fair Lady or the new Mary Poppins but neither are available to buy or rent on Prime. Please suggest some good movies!

CaptainCallisto · 31/03/2019 14:00

I'm currently snuggled up with 5 and 7 year old DS's watching The Sound of Music...

imsorryiasked · 31/03/2019 14:00

Paddington
Moana

SilverySurfer · 31/03/2019 14:03

How about: en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mother%27s_Day_(1980_film)

GottenGottenGotten · 31/03/2019 14:03

Hmm, I would probability go for something like strictly ballroom, hairspray, moulin rouge or priscilla queen of the desert.

I do love a musical...

GarthFunkel · 31/03/2019 14:05

I'm watching the Princess Bride.

GottenGottenGotten · 31/03/2019 14:05

Hmm just clocked the age. Maybe not priscilla or moulin rouge..

Paddington is fab.

AndOfCourseHenryTheHorse · 31/03/2019 14:08

Another vote for Moana!

JaneEyre07 · 31/03/2019 14:09

Trolls?? That film always makes me smile and my feet tap. It's got a cracking soundtrack.

maddiemookins16mum · 31/03/2019 14:11

Either of the Paddington films, the are just lovely (the 2nd one made me cry at the end).

Coffeekisses · 31/03/2019 16:38

Thanks for all the ideas! How did you get on with the sound of music callisto? That would be my favourite so far. I love Paddington but we’ve watched it a lot of times 😂 I’d really like something from my childhood but so many of them seem to lose their magic on a second watch...

Janeeyre I love Trolls but we watched it so much one summer that they both refuse outright to watch it now 😭

We're watching the Greatest Showman tonight Smile Ds (7) suggested it and DH said "fair enough". Superhero free zone today.

Mmmhmmokdear · 31/03/2019 17:03

My DDs (4&7) love The Sound of Music!

zucchinieggplant · 31/03/2019 17:09

I loved the more recent Peter Rabbit film; I thought it was endearing without being wet, and definitely made me laugh without being too silly.

Flicketyflack · 31/03/2019 17:12

Currently watching Tomb Raider (Alicia Vikander version). Wink

AdultHuman · 31/03/2019 17:14

The sound of music or Moana.

Baconislife · 31/03/2019 18:37

Mrs Doubtfire
Matilda
Bedknobs and Broomsticks

EleanorLavish · 31/03/2019 19:06

I just bawled my eyes out at the last 30mins of Steel Magnolias... not really kid material though.
Homeward bound?
ET?

CaptainCallisto · 31/03/2019 19:11

It was great coffee - DS2 was getting a bit fidgety by the end, but he wanted to know what happened so he stuck with it. We love a musical in the Callisto house!

PotteringAlong · 31/03/2019 19:13

Sing?

Pallando · 31/03/2019 19:16

I really like "Home". Not watched that for ages!
