What do you really want/want to do on mother's day??

I'm not talking about breakfast in bed and a nice bunch of flowers....

Here's my ideal day....

Kids wake up at 7am but dh gets up....then quietly takes them downstairs....and goes out for the ENTIRE day.

So I'll carry on sleeping until around 8.30/9ish....then I'll go down and make my own breakfast just how I really want it....maybe poached eggs or an omelette.

Then I might just sit in silence for a bit.

Then I'll clean....and I mean really clean with music on full blast....and I'll be loving it as there is absolutely no one else here to mess it up. I'll probably spend my morning cleaning and feel amazing and refreshed afterwards.

Then as I'm dieting, I'll make myself a lovely healthy lunch. Salad. Quick and easy. No complaining from anyone. Just one meal....for me. And I'll pop everything straight in the dishwasher so the kitchen stays tidy.

Then it's a toss up between going out and doing abit of retail therapy or catching up on tv. I'm guessing I'd go with the tv option as Im never ever in the house alone without the dcs so I'd want to make the most of it.

Nice bubble bath first. Uninterrupted. No one needing to come in for a wee or to tell me what they want for Christmas this year.

Then it has to be pjs on. Tv on. What I want to watch. Not paw patrol. Not my little pony. Not football. I'll be watching Corrie....I'm 2 months behind on it. So that will take up the rest of my day.

Ideally dh will come home with the dcs and somehow will of got them bathed and in their pjs so literally all I need to do is cuddle them until putting them to bed.

And that's it. The end.

Reality of tomorrow.... I'm doing a buffet for my whole family and mother in law. There will be a total of 8 children in my house 👍🏻

Sorry that lost was a bit blunt, but honestly if you’re not allowing yourself to have baths, eat what you like or do a poo in peace then there’s something wrong!

Rufusthebewilderedreindeer · 30/03/2019 23:26

I’ve already had my ideal mother’s day today Smile
I went to the gym this morning and had a wander around the shops.
Then we went to my mum’s and my siblings, partners and their children came round too. We ordered a takeaway and all sat around and chatted and ate too much.
Tomorrow, I’d just like a lazy day, reading and relaxing with my kids and dh but we’ve got a busy day with the kids sports and visiting mil plus homework, laundry and chores.
We’re getting up too early too thanks to British summertime. Grrr.

I'm going to have the day I want. Myself and dd11 will drive 90 mins.and join up with my mother who does a walk with her ramblers group every Sunday. We have made this a bit of a tradition the last few year. I told dh to cook something nice for dinner for when we get back . I also mentioned not so subtly that the local chemist has a jo malone imitation perfumes for 15e so I am expecting to see that and ds1 will be over for dinner as he is every Sunday and he asked me what I would like so I told him I would like a shower scrub from lunch. That will be me happy.

Sleep
Hot bath
Facial or other beauty treatment
Nice meal
Lots of drinks
I’m hoping to get at least 3 of the above

SurgeHopper · 31/03/2019 00:26

Nneeevvveeerrr gonna happen

BBTHREE76 · 31/03/2019 00:29

Lie in, Netflix, cups of tea and food delivered to me, but otherwise left in total peace all day ♥️👍🏻

PaulHollywoodsSexGut · 31/03/2019 00:41

Sleep.

Just fucking sleep.

JoeElliotsMullet · 31/03/2019 02:03

I don’t want to be climbed on, whined at, flounced at, licked, or have my toes trodden on. I would like to have nice cuddles with my girls and not have to referee them. It would be very nice if I got to have a nap too.

dinodiva · 31/03/2019 04:49

I’d really really like for the DC not to catch the D&V bug that I had in the week, and that DH seems to be coming down with.
I can live with cancelling our lunch reservation, and I’ll happily entertain them all day without moaning (much), but pleeeeease let them be bug free!!

soulrunner · 31/03/2019 05:00

My DM and DMIL live in a different country so we just keep it low key (as Mothers Day isn't celebrated today where we live).

Slept till 8 (kids are 6&8 so they get up and get own breakfast and watch tv/play FIFA at weekends). DH took the kids to rugby and I went for a run and to the gym. Enjoying an hour of tea and MN and then this afternoon we'll probably just do homework and then go out for an early casual dinner where kids can play with their friends.

ethelfleda · 31/03/2019 05:49

Sleep!!

fleshmarketclose · 31/03/2019 06:46

I would have liked the dog not to wake me at half five but the rest of the day will be great as the dc will all come round later with cards and flowers and we will have a takeaway so pretty perfect day for me.

Rubusfruticosus · 31/03/2019 07:27

I want to spend the day with my dc and visit my grandmother. Dc is secondary school age so I already get time alone.

trebless · 31/03/2019 07:58

@Mabellavender maybe I am being a martyr but I feel it's ok to be sometimes. Eldest ds has special needs and it's been incredibly challenging with him lately. Dd is great tbh. Youngest ds is 6 months and doesn't sleep. Which means neither have I. Last night was hell as youngest ds is constipated.

I know we all have things in our lives which make it hard. If you don't then you are very lucky. But yeah....I could do with my Mother's Day as a described today.

Anyway happy Mother's Day everyone

@trebless @mismapp thank you

I hope everyone is having a lovely day. I've had a very lazy morning with DS!
