If you could move anywhere (in the UK)?
You don't have DC (yet) or any family commitments, work from home, and have about £250k in savings to buy a house. Where would you settle?

singingismypassion · 30/03/2019 22:14

For £250k you won't get much in many of the suggested locations, sadly.

I think I would opt for Wales or Scotland. Remote and coastal

Mrscog · 30/03/2019 22:17

Think I’d stick with where I am now - Worcester!

As I have said CARLISLE and surrounding areas, it’s a great place, just off the m6, close enough to Newcastle and Glasgow airports, not a bad drive to Manchester either, it’s a nice city, v pretty and historical. Near to Lake District so PLENTY to do and see!! The people are lovely you’ll get a 4 bed detached for that price no bother!!

Scotland, healthcare, countryside, remain.. if you're not wanting big city, suburbs of Dundee, St Andrews, Leith, Stirling, Dunblane, Crieff..

TheLazyDuchess · 30/03/2019 22:31

Somewhere like this.

And there'd be enough left over to redecorate the dining room, change the curtains etc, to pay for a cleaner 3-4 hours a week, and maybe buy a car? .

Anywhere on the south downs national park.

anniehm · 30/03/2019 23:08

Where you can buy outright a nice home! Rather liking the ne at present as I could buy a row of houses!

OrangeCinnamon · 30/03/2019 23:16

The whole of the South is not as expensive as some make out ...

I would hate to live in Chichester traffic a nightmare and a bit soulless, no diversity very twee

I'd go somewhere on coast definitely but avoid touristy areas.

GiveMyHeadPeaceffs · 30/03/2019 23:16

Holywood, Co Down or the north coast NI. Frankly, if I could afford it, I'd have properties in both areas. NI is a hidden gem with beautiful scenery and Belfast is a great city with lots happening.

cheesenpickles · 30/03/2019 23:19

@OrangeCinnamon the roundabouts! The roundabouts! And the roundabout of death by Tesco. Sad

Linzbe · 30/03/2019 23:24

I've lived on the south coast since I was born (not too far west of Brighton) and I wouldn't change it! If I had to move, as long as I was on a coast line I'd be happy!

SnowyAlpsandPeaks · 30/03/2019 23:25

Wales? Somewhere like Abergavenny, Crickhowell, you could get a decent place for that money. Lots of mountains, rivers and lakes. Good shopping not far away. Railway station. 40 mins drive to Cardiff.

Dieu · 30/03/2019 23:25

Stockbridge in Edinburgh. Voted by the Times as the best place to live. Has been on Location several times. Unfortunately you will have to double your budget though ...

Meangirls36 · 31/03/2019 00:14

£250,000 End Of. Or would you get a mortgage?

Where have you lived that you liked/hated?

Do you need anything for your job/business?
