Friday 2am woke up bit of a sore throat nothing to write home about. Gargled some mouthwash did the trick.

Friday 8am woke up again with a bit of a headache, took some paracetamol and went back to bed.

Friday 10am got up as husband has day off work went and made breakfast all was fine.

Within an hour I'm bed bound shivering with chills running a temp of 38.9. Sweating, and body aches all over and head feels swollen etc.

6 hours goes by and I'm got no cold, but the hardest part if keeping fever down - just not working. Paracetamol and ibuprofen but doesn't even knock the edge off fever.

By 9pm I'm still running a temp but feel somewhat better. Thing is I don't have a cold or any sinus symptoms just the fever and body aches.

Got back to bed at 10pm managed to get fever down to 38.2 starting to feel freezing again now. Now just woken up and feel like again I've been hit by the plague. Temp 39.2.

I've had flu in the past but have always had cough or snotty nose alongside it. This feels different. Does anyone know what it could be?

TIA.

Not wanting to alarm, but sepsis is what springs to mind.
Please keep an eye on yourself.

Maybe some kind of virus, could be flu, could be tonsillitis but it's impossible to say over the internet, only your GP would be able to tell you.

PlainSpeakingStraightTalking · 30/03/2019 01:50

Could be any infection - water? a cold? a virus? bubonic plague.

Smotheroffive · 30/03/2019 01:50

Your temp is very high considering you are on meds for it. Confused

Having a fever means certain more serious of illnesses, so maybe call 111?

Smotheroffive · 30/03/2019 01:52

Surely having slight sore throat that's quickly cleared is not tonsilitis!

Decormad38 · 30/03/2019 01:54

Probably just a virus.

Aquamarine1029 · 30/03/2019 01:57

If you are this concerned you need to call 111. Don't take chances with your health.

Worriedwart18 · 30/03/2019 02:01

My son actually had sepsis at 5 months old back in January so I am hoping that our family hasn't been hit twice!

Only reason I'm asking you lovely ladies is because again I have a now 8 month old and worried about waking him.

Sucks GP is closed for weekend now, will give it a couple of hours then will call 111 see what they say. Thanks.

Who knows? The point being it's impossible to diagnose over the Internet. When I had tonsillitis I didn't get the raging sore throat until later.

Choccymmm · 30/03/2019 02:03

I had something v similar about a year ago - 24hrs of honestly wondering if i might die, unable to get up, sweating and shivering, aching all over, burning bones....then it lifted and i was fine. Think it's just a ye olde fever!

Smotheroffive · 30/03/2019 18:00

How are you worriedwort ?

Worriedwart18 · 30/03/2019 18:15

@smotheroffive thanks for asking.

Well I felt a bit better this morning after falling back to sleep at 5am. Had an awful few hours where it felt like my body was being crushed and fever went back up.. and then it just disappeared. Went from crying in pain one minute to feeling better the next.

At the moment it's been about 6 hours with no high fever (in the late 37's though). And throat is very very sore now. I'm thinking more viral infection now but a bloody weird one it has been. Never had anything like this before.

Hoping I'm over the worst of it now!

I had this two weeks ago op. Raging temperature but felt shivery and cold. Zero energy. It went on for a few days then the sore throat started. It was like swallowing razor blades. Awful.
I went to the GP and she said it was a chest infection as my lungs sounded crackly (even though I had no cough, which I thought was strange).
It took me a good couple of weeks to feel normal again.
Hope you feel better soon Flowers

Smotheroffive · 30/03/2019 21:30

Oh that's a good update OP! Sounds horrendous. Weirdly, just had a very odd thing myself.

Raging temp, felt like ice, nothing got me warm, excruciating pain that woke me at around 5am yesterday, had felt a bit off/sickish the night before.

The sharp pain was the size of a tennis ball in my left side. Was even thinking my appendix is on the wrong side! Was wretching full on but tummy must've been empty as nothing materialised. Felt so icy cold went white as a sheet and so frail and shakey. Could hardly gather myself to take pain relief as was curled up in a ball, and rocking with the pain. Just wth!?
