OK, it's doubtful Brexit is going to happen any time soon but definitely worth coming along and standing up for what we voted for.

Very little coverage in the media - unfortunately no full page spreads in the Standard for us....

It will be going on until early evening so still worth turning up if you can't get the day off work. Lots of great speakers including Julia Hartley Brewer, Claire Fox, Kate Hoey et al.

So fucking RUDE and arrogant a lot of you .

Yet you take the moral upper ground !

onalongsabbatical · 29/03/2019 09:30

@TeddyIsaHe ha ha I've surrendered to being glued to Sky news. Gina Miller just said something interesting - she thinks it's going to be us asking for a long extension AND she said that the latest legal pronouncement is that we wouldn't have to participate in EU elections in order for that to be possible, because incoming countries don't it's just been pronounced that outgoing countries don't either. Which changes everything, potentially.

JazzyJelly · 29/03/2019 09:30

What 'we' voted for? Not me love, this mess is on you.

ReleaseTheBats · 29/03/2019 09:30

Why the Remain voters see themselves as superior is still a mystery to me

From outside of this (thank fuck) I see very clear differences of intellect, class, dignity, and common sense between Leavers and Remainers

Wow @IvanaPee you think upper/middle class people are "superior" to working class people? How disgusting.

Kko1986 · 29/03/2019 09:33

I am not a dumb person but I am also not an intellectual person.
I voted leave because a lot of reasons I'll give one here the fishing quotas are highly unfair to the British. Obviously there are many other reasons. I made my mind up how to vote long before the leave campaign got going and where I live there wasn't much propaganda for remain or leave and I enjoyed that I was able to research myself and make my choice. My family also did the same and we don't discuss our votes as I believe we are all entitled to our voices.
I don't believe it will be an easy process. I don't believe it will be the end of us.
I only ask that as an individual you respect that is how I voted and I haven't changed my mind.
I am ashamed of the so called leavers who are inciting aggression as we are not all like that and they give us a bad name.
Same as how some remainers just want an argument .
I respect your choice as a remainer and hope that when the dust settles we can all find a way forward.

Bunchofparsley · 29/03/2019 09:35

@Hillfarmer
Yep.

YouTheCat · 29/03/2019 09:36

I'm a working class remainer.

Can I just reiterate that on the massive march last weekend there were no reports of violence or disorder from the marchers. There was no huge police presence along the march. The atmosphere was apparently friendly and jovial.

Let's just see how the pro-Brexit march goes.

JustAnotherPoster00 · 29/03/2019 09:36

If I'm honest OP I'd rather shit in my hands and clap

onalongsabbatical · 29/03/2019 09:36

Debate opening now.

YouTheCat · 29/03/2019 09:37

Kko, maybe those fishing quotas would be more favourable if Farage ever bothered turning up and fighting Britain's corner, as that is his job.

catx1606 · 29/03/2019 09:38

@Calloway, £50 is for food and accommodation along the way. The marchers started up in the Midlands and been coming down the country. £50 is a pretty good deal for somewhere to stay and food for the duration of the march.

"Also, you should be celebrating that it hasn't happened. Your failure to grasp that is very sad"

Why? Only if the OP is a remainer. If they voted leave, they're not going to be celebrating this. That should be clear to everyone. Sounds like your trying to make someone sound thick when it's totally unnecessary, maybe so that it fits in what your idea of a leaver is.

IvanaPee · 29/03/2019 09:39

There are louts on both sides of the divide;

Examples of loutish behaviour on both sides, please? A PP has given examples of leave louts (nice ring to it).

@ReleaseTheBats I didn’t mean working class/middle class, I meant the manner in which one conducts oneself. Decorum might be another word for it. Common decency, maybe.

I detest the word “chav” but anecdotally, it has its place here.

ReleaseTheBats · 29/03/2019 09:45

Can you give an example of loutish behaviour from Remain supporters?

RockinHippy · 29/03/2019 09:47

Nope, I wouldn't want to swell the crowd to a noticeable amount by taking my small family along to an otherwise wash out 🤷🏼‍♀️

yolofish · 29/03/2019 09:48

I've checked my diary, and will be washing my hair tonight so will decline. (translation: I would rather stick pins in my eyes)

ReleaseTheBats · 29/03/2019 09:49

Claims not to be talking about social class and then says "chav" has its place here 😬

Horrible.

And I'd like you to come to my 75% leave voting area in rural Norfolk and tell people they lack dignity.

IvanaPee · 29/03/2019 09:50

So, two neighbours got into a row? Horrible waste of a life but you can hardly blame Brexit!

I can’t read the article as I have an ad blocker but had they been drinking?

ContinuityError · 29/03/2019 09:52

Kko I'll give one here the fishing quotas are highly unfair to the British

Maybe if the UK fisherman hadn’t sold their quotas along with their boats to other European fisherman then they would have had more quotas?

AhhhHereItGoes · 29/03/2019 09:52

I won't be going as I am not a pro Brexiter (though not a particularly Remainer either. I think whatever happens it will be a shit storm.

Do not like Tommy or Nige though.

Just looked up Mr Wetherspoons and he resides mere miles from us.

IceRebel · 29/03/2019 09:53

From that article

Mr Keating was found dead in his bedroom six hours later. An autopsy showed he died from breathing difficulties after consuming alcohol, methadone and cannabis.

IvanaPee · 29/03/2019 09:54

I thought so, Ice!

Talk about reaching...

IceRebel · 29/03/2019 09:56

Ivana indeed, but how boring is a headline about a death from drug and alcohol abuse?

ReleaseTheBats · 29/03/2019 09:59

So you don't think the brutal attack constitutes loutish behaviour?

MaudBaileysGreenTurban · 29/03/2019 10:00

That man does indeed sound like a thug Bats but given the coroner's report I think it's a bit of a stretch to blame the death on Brexit.

I won't draw your attention to the report on the same page about hate crimes rising by 41% post-Brexit

ReleaseTheBats · 29/03/2019 10:04

Where did I blame Brexit? Someone asked for examples of loutish behaviour from remain supporters. I provided an example. Interestingly lots of reasons were then offered why it doesn't count.

I wonder what you'd say if it had been the other way round.
