OK, it's doubtful Brexit is going to happen any time soon but definitely worth coming along and standing up for what we voted for.

Very little coverage in the media - unfortunately no full page spreads in the Standard for us....

It will be going on until early evening so still worth turning up if you can't get the day off work. Lots of great speakers including Julia Hartley Brewer, Claire Fox, Kate Hoey et al.

Are you really that slow witted? I'm on about Tommy Robinson fans putting a noose around an effigy of a Muslim.

SalmonFishing · 30/03/2019 15:20

'we're the nice Leavers of MN, we're not racist. But we'll still tie ourselves in knots to defend the racist Leavers'

MaudBaileysGreenTurban · 30/03/2019 15:20

The faux-naivety on here today is really...odd.

Maud re-read my post.

From all the images I have googled it shows the same picture, one noose carried by the same man with nothing there so I don’t know where you get this from:

But it is not the same as an effigy of May with a noose around her neck

If you can show me a picture where that is the case then I will respond accordingly.

MaudBaileysGreenTurban · 30/03/2019 15:26

Nice try Gilbert, nice try.

pssst, Islam's not a race

SalmonFishing · 30/03/2019 15:26

Gilbert, you say you don't see race yet you're seemingly desperate to defend racists. Now why could that be...

A noose also has implications of a lynching. Putting round the neck of a person of colour shows either a massive lack of political awareness or it's a dog whistle.

A 'noose' is a very problematical image in large number of ways.

SalmonFishing · 30/03/2019 15:33

Would you be more comfortable with 'bigoted xenophobe'? Do let me know.

Your steadfast refusal to admit that a Tommy Robinson fan putting a noose around an effigy of Muslim man of colour is a racist act is an obvious attempt to brush off any allegations of racism against your fellow Leavers in arms.

And you know it.

SalmonFishing · 30/03/2019 15:33

ps, you're right, Islam is not a race (??)

p.s I didn't say that.

Coffeebean76 · 30/03/2019 15:35

Sorry, would love to but I’m at the ‘I’d rather shoot myself in the head’ conference this weekend.

Windowsareforcheaters · 30/03/2019 15:36

Lots of racism is dog whistle like a noose round the neck.

Racists are not quite brave enough to say what they actually think so they couch it in terms where you know what they mean even if they don't actually say it.

Then there is a burst of faux outrage when you accuse them of racism.

Sound familiar?

Has anyone called you a racist @Gilbert1A?

Posters have said the Brexit campaign used racist imagery. There is a hard core of Brexit supporters who are racist. Many people support Brexit for mildly racist reasons.

That being the case 'moderate' Brexiteers need to retake the lead in the campaign and focus the rhetoric on the positives of Brexit.

If you are on the same side as racists you have to draw your lines very carefully and very clearly. By refusing to engage in a positive way leavers have created a vacuum which is being taken over by the far right.

No one is calling YOU a racist though.

bellinisurge · 30/03/2019 15:45

I don't think all Leavers are thick racists but they have enabled a bunch of racist twats and are getting all sensitive and playing the victim when this is pointed out to them. It's easy. Denounce Yaxley-Lennon with every post you do for Leave for the next few days and then it's clear that you are separating yourself from them.

SalmonFishing · 30/03/2019 15:45

You may not be racist but I suspect you think that by making excuses for obviously racist Leavers that it helps push back against that the incorrect idea that all Leavers are racist. But that’s a murky road to go down.

Rufusthebewilderedreindeer · 30/03/2019 16:26

You may see the world in terms of what race people are but quite frankly that's your problem

Dont do that its a stupid virtue signaling comment to make and to be very honest ive only seen it on mumsnet when out and out racists say it

And im positive thats not you or your intention

Rufusthebewilderedreindeer · 30/03/2019 16:28

Apologies

I only posted when i saw it and didnt finish reading

No i dont think you are racist...i dont know you, I'm sure you are lovely

longwayoff · 30/03/2019 16:36

Interesting guess Gilbert. I'm guessing that wasn't your first guess.

time4chocolate · 30/03/2019 16:39

@TeddyIsaHe - thanks for that (sort of). Yeah don’t like that at all.

Bornfreebutinchains · 30/03/2019 16:42

I honestly don't know how so many remainers were able to walk in a straight line on that march.
All I've witnessed in 2 years on here is same posters literally going round and round and round in ever decreasing circles.

Don't you feel dizzyGrin

Peregrina · 30/03/2019 16:45

Why wasn't that man arrested for inciting racial hatred?
