OK, it's doubtful Brexit is going to happen any time soon but definitely worth coming along and standing up for what we voted for.

Very little coverage in the media - unfortunately no full page spreads in the Standard for us....

It will be going on until early evening so still worth turning up if you can't get the day off work. Lots of great speakers including Julia Hartley Brewer, Claire Fox, Kate Hoey et al.

It's so sad to see, when you consider the positive atmosphere at the time the Olympics were staged.

Windowsareforcheaters · 30/03/2019 13:37

Gilbert1A leavers have consistently failed to give reasons. Many leavers have claimed asking for reasons is 'goady'. I have been accused of being patronising for asking for references and facts from leavers.

Reasonable leavers need to grab the narrative like thy did in the referendum campaign and put forward something positive. The right wing, the ERG and the nutters who now run UKIP now own the Brexit narrative. That is why leavers are associated with racists, because they are associating with racists.

PortiaCastis · 30/03/2019 13:38

Good God dragging effigies along with their knuckles, not an intelligent move is it, can these people not see how disgusting they seem.

PortiaCastis · 30/03/2019 13:40

.......and how is shouting and jostling a film crew going to solve the Irish border issue?

No they really haven't.

Give it a go now.

IceRebel · 30/03/2019 13:48

They have given reasons many many times and are now understandably a little bored of repeating themselves for the hard of remembering

I've seen plenty of reasons, but a fair few of these would not be solved by leaving the EU, which seems counter productive. Confused

Helmetbymidnight · 30/03/2019 13:59

leavers have given their non racist reasons over and over and over again on lots of different threads. You have either not seen them or you have trouble retaining information.
i suggest you do a quick search; all the info is there.

Here, from this thread, a leaver's reasons were, and she got applauded by other Brexitteers for her reasons. They were:

a. Leaving Brexit is the harder option. But she trusts the British people. The EU is in charge of us. (Later she says our MPs are in charge) Do we not have the British spirit anymore?

From this weeks threads:
b. 'We will save millions,' says a Brexitteer - clearly painfully, stupidly, unaware of the cost Brexit has cost so far and will cost us as our economy shrinks.

c. "I fully expect Britain to be in economic hardship for 10-30 years - and possibly be stronger than other countries after."

Nice. A leaver who wants economic hardship for a generation because "possibly" things may be better.

That's Leavers non-racist "reasons" for fucking the GFA, for screwing the economy, for laying to waste all the science and research collaboration of the last 40 years, for fucking over 3 million Europeans and 1 1/2 million brits overseas.

I really am embarrassed for you.

The UK is a representative democracy, not direct rule.

There is no point in even pointing this out to the Will of the People brigade sadly.

Brexit has become like a religion - and here we are fighting with each other while the powers that be quietly rake in more money and plan a return to the 19th century. People who should not be allowed anywhere near power and why they are in the positions they are in is completely beyond me. People like Rees-Mogg are our appalling future unless we do something about it.

Bread and circuses, this is what this is.

👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻

Could not have put it better.

How999 · 30/03/2019 14:01

Haven’t we had enough of these entitled, utterly selfish and out of touch people.

They are appalling. Treating the UK as their playground. How have they been allowed to take over.

isseywithcats · 30/03/2019 14:02

of course i was going to have a morning off work today and travel nearly 200 miles on public transport to attend NOT

time4chocolate · 30/03/2019 14:04

...........effigies of politicians being dragged along the ground, it's depressing to think that's what the UK in 2019 is now like

What, you mean like this:

Langrish · 30/03/2019 14:04

Fear not, The Donald has just pronounced. When we finally leave, he’ll be “right there waiting for you”.

Fuck me! Allelujan! Our troubles are over!

iano · 30/03/2019 14:09

Well said @Helmetbymidnight
Spot on!

LordProfFekkoThePenguinPhD · 30/03/2019 14:10

Aounds more like a threat

Windowsareforcheaters · 30/03/2019 14:12

@Helmetbymidnight

Well put

GreatAuntBertha · 30/03/2019 14:18

What, you mean like this:

No I mean the effigies that the Leavers were dragging around on nooses.

Langrish · 30/03/2019 14:20

“LordProfFekkoThePenguinPhD

Aounds more like a threat“

I’ve just snorted tea out of my nose 😂

TeddyIsaHe · 30/03/2019 14:25

@time4chocolate the effigies leavers used were being dragged around with nooses round their necks. Not comparable.

time4chocolate · 30/03/2019 14:26

No I mean the effigies that the Leavers were dragging around on nooses

Oh silly me, but this one is ok then?

GreatAuntBertha · 30/03/2019 14:28

Yes that's okay. It's the 'noose' aspect that's troubling. Do you know what a noose is?

TeddyIsaHe · 30/03/2019 14:29

If you don’t understand what the difference between the two is then I can’t help you. One is a threat, the other is a representation of what Brexit/the politicians are doing.

time4chocolate · 30/03/2019 14:30

Jesus wept - the hypocracy is something else.
