OK, it's doubtful Brexit is going to happen any time soon but definitely worth coming along and standing up for what we voted for.

Very little coverage in the media - unfortunately no full page spreads in the Standard for us....

It will be going on until early evening so still worth turning up if you can't get the day off work. Lots of great speakers including Julia Hartley Brewer, Claire Fox, Kate Hoey et al.

Bed. Brexit is not a 'prize you have won' it is a Trojan Horse. If you refuse to see that there's no help for you and if Brexit 'succeeds' you'll have plenty of time toyo see i you.

Dothehappydance · 30/03/2019 08:11

Leavers invariably lose me when they e.g. start to argue that 80% of people voted for parties which supported Brexit,

Oh yes we had that one too from the MP. (Though it was nearer to 100%). The reply that a) not really much choice and b) people tend not to vote based on one issue seemed to fall on deaf ears.

N0rdicStar · 30/03/2019 08:12

Your well thought out reasons were based on lies. My leaver mother sees that now as do many others.

longwayoff · 30/03/2019 08:12

Plenty of time in which it will become obvious to you.

IceRebel · 30/03/2019 08:13

Last weekend there were so many teens shouting for their say as they didn’t get to vote and will have to spend their working lives sorting out the mess.

Indeed, many of those who voted for brexit will not see the benefits fucking mess they claim were their reasons for voting that way.

CatGoals · 30/03/2019 08:17

@TooManyPaws

Nope. My country voted 2 to 1 to Remain.

You need to brush up on your political philosophy. Those who abstain are presumed to acquiesce to the winning vote. So it was actually 2 to 1 to leave Smile

MaudBaileysGreenTurban · 30/03/2019 08:19

Brexit is simply a spectator sport to a huge number that voted for it. Retired, home-owners, decent pension, maybe a couple of holidays in the sun every year. People like my dad and my in-laws (all of whom I love, btw, but don't understand).

It is their children and their grandchildren that will have to clear up the mess.

Someone else's responsibility, y'see...

Peregrina · 30/03/2019 08:28

Many of us placed our vote based on solid, well thought out arguments.

Well, let's hear them then. Or more to the point, get writing to your MP telling him or her that you expected your vote to lead to.... and what is being done about it? Don't let them continue to blather about 'Sovereignty', 'taking back control' 'make our own laws' yadda, yadda, yadda. Get them to put some flesh onto their arguments. Take fishing as an example - what will you [MP] do to get the UK fishing industry back? Will you press for a scheme to buy back the fishing quotas which Westminster allowed our trawler owners to sell to mainly the Dutch?

Namenic · 30/03/2019 08:31

Which form of Brexit was the March/referendum for?

bellinisurge · 30/03/2019 08:31

I'm sure they were all lovely well thought out arguments. Now you need some lovely well thought out arguments to take back control of your mission from these EDL twats. Otherwise, you will merge into one and your dreams of Brexit will end with these louts.

LonelyTiredandLow · 30/03/2019 08:34

If we do end up extending and voting in the EU elections perhaps leavers could look at their own MEP's voting record and see if it tackled the issues. For example we know Farage only turned up to 1 out of 24 fisheries votes, so if fishing is a real issue for you or your area, research to select a candidate who has a better track record of standing up for your fishing rights.

I think if everyone does this perhaps it will help with feelings of control, until we can at least figure out a way to Brexit.

Dothehappydance · 30/03/2019 08:35

No form name 'no deal is better than remain' 'leave means leave' 'brexit means brexit' They don't know or care

They just want out whatever that means or entails.

UnPocoLoco2 · 30/03/2019 08:39

Remainders and brexiteers ( stupid words really) can live in harmony. I voted remain, dp voted leave but now we are both just really sick of this total fiasco. The problem is that all the oldies who voted for brexit will be gone in a few years and the rest of us will be left to clean up the mess.

Peregrina · 30/03/2019 08:39

For candidate read candidates. The execrable Farage represents my EU constituency but I most certainly did not cast one of my votes for him.

Unfinishedkitchen · 30/03/2019 08:44

I can’t believe someone said upthread that they voted to leave to stick it to the power wielding middle class! Wow, the super rich Brexit pushers and media owners have really done a great job of getting you to aim at the wrong target, haven’t they??

Peregrina · 30/03/2019 08:45

I didn't vote for a Nazi dictator!

Sadly though, a lot of otherwise decent pre-war Germans were the same. Hitler brought work, that's a good thing, so that's what they voted for. But then they weren't able to keep him in check. Then it was too late.

Just read up what has happened to Dominic Grieve now being deselected by his constituency, with a motion put forward by an ex UKIP Tory member. I don't vote Tory but respect him as a man of integrity. I have no respect whatever for UKIP or Farage, or whichever racist thug is now leading them.

SlinkyDinkyDoo · 30/03/2019 08:46

based on solid well thought out arguements

And they were?

Dear leaver how is Brexit going to make this country better? Please spell it out for me.

ADarkandStormyKnight · 30/03/2019 08:48

Yaxley-Lennons high profile appearance yesterday should be a warninfg siren.

I've trawled pro-Brexit twitter accounts for condemnation am seeing none - though would be very pleased to be directed to examples.

NameChangeNugget · 30/03/2019 08:50

So, there’s a march today by the fucking idiots that have decided to ruin the country for at least the next two generations by chucking the Uk off a cliff.

Good luck with that Biscuit

bellinisurge · 30/03/2019 08:51

Please tell me that the usual Leave voices are coming on here roundly and unequivocally condemning Yaxley-Lennon and his ilk.
Not with the usual "people are angry" bullshit excuses. With actual "Not In My Name" posts.

daisypond · 30/03/2019 08:54

catgoals you might need to brush up on your political philosophy. “My country voted 2-1 to remain.” I assume the poster Is Scottish, so what they say is correct.

Bornfreebutinchains · 30/03/2019 08:55

I'm afraid the far right and far left step into voids created when those in power because totally set apart from the people that voted them in

I think Blair's legacy really started this.
All the groundwork for today was flourishing under Blair and yet his parliament big obsession....was fox hunting.

Across Europe the same thing is happening. Counties shackled to the EU, are growing far right, far left factions rapidly.

The next Eu elections are going too see a worrying no go to far right parties.

If breixit was sure thing. If no one had doubted it's fruition.

Tommy and gang would still be well on the fringes of society.

bellinisurge · 30/03/2019 08:58

Countries "shackled" to the EU? 😂 Still saying that. And indulging extremists?

TaMereAPoilDevantPrisu · 30/03/2019 09:00

all voices are heard and considered

That's a bit fucking rich given that several million of the most directly affected people - certainly enough to sway the result - weren't even fucking allowed to vote in the first place.

Bornfreebutinchains · 30/03/2019 09:00

I'm confused.

Parliament not following through on honouring a vote is why Tommy has a hook in politics today.

I'm a leaver.

The far right is on the rise across the UK.
Is this what anyone wants to be a part of?
