OK, it's doubtful Brexit is going to happen any time soon but definitely worth coming along and standing up for what we voted for.

Very little coverage in the media - unfortunately no full page spreads in the Standard for us....

It will be going on until early evening so still worth turning up if you can't get the day off work. Lots of great speakers including Julia Hartley Brewer, Claire Fox, Kate Hoey et al.

Ah,this is the magic thread that influences the nature of reality. Brilliant Grin I'll have a go too then:

Revoke Article 50
Peace and Reconciliation project
Political reform

Please, please, please🙏🏻

Rufusthebewilderedreindeer · 29/03/2019 21:58

Has it been violent enough for you or are people hoping for more

Thats a dreadful thing to say

What is wrong with some people

FaFoutis · 29/03/2019 22:01

If this thread can influence the nature of reality I would like

  1. Revoke
  2. The correct use of apostrophes
YouTheCat · 29/03/2019 22:04

I was kind of hoping to have my thoughts that there would be violence proved wrong. Sadly, that hasn't happened.

TheElementsSong · 29/03/2019 22:06

Is this the thread where Remainers make stuff happen that would never have happened otherwise?

So... ^^

ItsFinallyBedTime · 29/03/2019 22:22

Gggrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr!!

I voted leave. I'm not stupid or ignorant or racist or a thug. I made a choice, an informed, well thought out choice.

A lot of other people also voted leave. Many many of them made well thought out choices too. All of them had a right to vote as they did. All of us had the right to have our vote heard and for the outcome to be adhered to.

None of us that voted leave deserve to be patronised and looked down on. Just because we didn't vote the same as you, doesn't mean we were wrong. Just because you don't like the outcome of the referendum, it doesn't mean we should have it again.

There was a demonstration today. Some people behaved disgustingly. But many many more didn't. There are many people in the UK who do inappropriate, wrong or awful things. There are many that break the law. Some of those voted leave, but some also voted remain, and some didn't vote.

To the lovely, non judgemental remainers that respect the vote and the people that voted...thanks. To the judgemental remainers that put the leavers down, that call us ignorant and racist and all manner of other things ... Please stop.

Dothehappydance · 29/03/2019 22:24

Portia because it is all those darn remainers fault that we are still in Europe 'leave means leave' 'brexit means brexit' but those remainers have blocked it at every which way and they all just want to get what they want and they are all posh and rich and stuck up,

or just back to the 6 yr old retort of 'he made me do it'

TeddyIsaHe · 29/03/2019 22:27

Yeah that’s all well and good, but at the end of the day there was NO violence and NO arrests at the remain march, which had however many hundreds of thousands more people.

If I was a leaver right now I’d be pretending I wasn’t. I would be utterly ashamed that I was in anyway associated with those disgusting, nasty humans. EDL, UKIP, Tommy Robinson? Attacking police officers? All because we haven’t left the EU yet? Pathetic.

Peregrina · 29/03/2019 22:30

There was a demonstration today. Some people behaved disgustingly. But many many more didn't.

A million plus last weekend did not behave disgustingly. If you feel so strongly about the disgusting behaviour shown today, why didn't all you leavers get out and organise a peaceful protest, without speakers known to incite racial hatred? Disown the Tommy Robinsons and Farages loud and clear and don't try to drag Remainers into it.

Unfinishedkitchen · 29/03/2019 22:32

EDL, Tommy Robinson? I’m so embarrassed this being played one the world stage. Why would anyone want to be associated with these thugs and criminals, a sizeable amount of whom are on various ‘registers’?

Our reputation as being sensible people is in ruins.

Unfinishedkitchen · 29/03/2019 22:33

Should’ve proofread the above before posting- oh well!

Sunonthepatio · 29/03/2019 22:34

Five arrests. There may be sensible remainers, but they aren't in this rent- a -mob.

Langrish · 29/03/2019 22:35

FaFoutus

“2. The correct use of apostrophes“

Now you really are expecting the impossible.

Langrish · 29/03/2019 22:36

And spellings. 😂😂😂

TeddyIsaHe · 29/03/2019 22:36

Five more than High Noon. Abuse towards police. None of that last Saturday.

Spin it whatever way makes you sleep at night, but it is disgusting behaviour and defending it makes you look like an utter fool.

Kummerspeck · 29/03/2019 22:37

Jesus wept! It's no wonder the country is in such a mess when the people claiming to be morally superior and more intelligent are so fucking rude.

TeddyIsaHe · 29/03/2019 22:41

Well when you’ve got Tommy Robinson as the spokesperson for Leave it’s a teensy bit hard not to be superior.

Compare that the Patrick Stewart and Steve Coogan to name just two not massive racists. Yeah, bit superior don’t you agree?

Dothehappydance · 29/03/2019 22:47

bedtime I am under no illusion that a significant percentage of people voted leave as they genuinely felt/feel that it was a better option. At the time I read some very good arguments for leaving - even if they were based on a bot of 'hope for the best'

Another significant core voted leave because it fitted with their anti-immigration rhetoric.

But the overwhelming majority (imo at least) voted because they thought that leaving, however bad that could be, was better than what we have now. It was less about Europe, but more about swathes of people who feel not listened to and that the government since 2010 has done no more than spitting them out and stamping on them. They feel that being in Europe has no benefit for them, because no-one told them, they got told that there would be another £350 million a week for the NHS, they got told that everything would be perfect, why would they not fall for that when they are feeling so disenfranchised?

This has totally divided the country, and serious damage has been done that I don't think will ever be overcome.

MaxNormal · 29/03/2019 22:49

I do feel morally superior to the bunch of thugs, racists and knuckle draggers who were out today. Not even going to pretend otherwise. It was utterly fucking unedifying.

There is nothing of a similar nature associated with Remain.

Kummerspeck · 29/03/2019 22:56

@TeddyIsaHe and @MaxNormal
I have no problem with anyone choosing to feel morally superior, we all do that times. What I have a problem with is the dichotomy of claiming moral superiority while being sneery and rude

There are some well reasoned and interesting posts from people on both sides of the Brexit debate yet most of the rudeness seems to come from those who claim to be more intelligent, educated and tolerant Funny that!

ooooohbetty · 29/03/2019 23:00

Those who tell everyone that they are so morally superior and everyone else is thick and racist is exactly why the vote to leave happened. Unfortunately they are far too superior to even consider that or take any responsibility for it.

TeddyIsaHe · 29/03/2019 23:03

The people marching today ARE thick and racist. I’d be bloody disappointed in myself if I didn’t think I was above them.

I don’t know how anyone can be supporting or defending them, their behaviour was appalling. It brings leavers down, and yet you’re still too stubborn to take a step back and not associate yourselves with them. Madness.

wincarwoo · 29/03/2019 23:10

I voted leave but realise the margin of winning was just too small to make Brexit a success and leave the country in a united state. I've campaigned for remain ever since.

YouTheCat · 29/03/2019 23:16

Wincaroo, you just prove that there are reasonable people who did vote leave. It's an utter shitstorm and it needs to stop now. May has totally mishandled the entire thing. There wasn't even a plan for leaving until recently and that was 2 years after the vote. Article 50 shouldn't have even been triggered until there was a cohesive plan in place but she bulldozered through anyway. They have fucked this country. And I fear for the future.
