OK, it's doubtful Brexit is going to happen any time soon but definitely worth coming along and standing up for what we voted for.

Very little coverage in the media - unfortunately no full page spreads in the Standard for us....

It will be going on until early evening so still worth turning up if you can't get the day off work. Lots of great speakers including Julia Hartley Brewer, Claire Fox, Kate Hoey et al.

Some right snobbish talk on here. Hmm

IvanaPee · 29/03/2019 14:51

Fingers in the ears is an accurate description.

I can’t for the life of me figure out why she’s so admanant! She was a bloody remainer!

They know, they must know leaving is a shambles. So why not take the necessary steps to prevent it? She’s gone anyway!

BercowsSilkTie · 29/03/2019 14:52

StarlaP the pictures of parliament square today show a mixture of leave and remain voters as both groups protesting. Am sure the leavers will try and claim the full number are leavers though!

TeddyIsaHe · 29/03/2019 14:53

Well they’ve voted down the deal again. Is anyone surprised?

ItsInTheSpoon · 29/03/2019 14:54

@Kko1986 some very good posts

Helmetbymidnight · 29/03/2019 15:01

Multi-millionaire property tycoon Richard Tice is leading some Brexit marchers. They didn't seem to know where they were going, which was very funny.

Its bewildering that people are still trying to pretend that Remainers are the elite and brexiteers are for the working people. No one sincerely believes that anymore, do they?

Kko1986 · 29/03/2019 15:03

@itsinthespoon what do you mean ?

Helmetbymidnight · 29/03/2019 15:05

I don't know what she means. i put my trust in the country, the people. Life isn't easy is staying in the EU the easy option yes it is. Is it the right one? Not in my opinion that's my opinion. But I believe in the people of this country the strength the willingness from people to try. Maybe the British spirit is over maybe I'm flogging a dead horse wanting the decisions, the laws our children's futures being down to our country's choices not having the EU pass things and get involved in things that we should be allowed to decide.

The fact that people still write this meaningless crap, 2 and a half years after the ref is mind-blowing.

Pa1oma · 29/03/2019 15:06

All this “the people” malarkey is the biggest load of b***cks ever spouted. Like turkeys voting for Xmas.

Has TM announced when she’ll be back for meaningfulvote4? Has Raab now switched back to the position he was in this morning - you know the one that caused him to resign “on principle?”

ItsInTheSpoon · 29/03/2019 15:08

@Kko1986 I meant, your posts are well written

Langrish · 29/03/2019 15:08

Ivana: one of the Leave camosign’s orchestrators was saying on Today this morning that that’s precisely why she’s been so hard line. She’s being going all out to prove just how behind Brexit she is. He suggested that had a leaver been in charge we may well have ended up with a WA leading to a much softer departure.
Interesting, a leading remainer (can’t remember her name either!) was agreeing with him. They also both agreed in concluding wholeheartedly that she’s cocked it right up. A rare, warm moment of togetherness 🙄

needmorespace · 29/03/2019 15:10

I'm not marching today and I'm not happy at all, that the far right have wheedled their way into Brexit at all

Are you for real? The right of this country is totally and solely to blame for the brexit shitshow.
I can tell you I am no fan of Cameron or Osborne, but by shite, the bedfellows leavers jumped in with are nothing but fucking reprehensible liars and charlatans. Far right wheedled their way in, ffs.

woman19 · 29/03/2019 15:10

Sky TV shots of Westminster are terrifying now. It looks like they have blocked the roads and exits from Parliament.

This looks horrendous.

Langrish · 29/03/2019 15:11

Raab 😡 Can’t believe he’s in the running to take over. Who the hell’s going to put their faith in him, from either side of the argument. Tosser.

Kko1986 · 29/03/2019 15:13

@itsinthespoon thank you that actually means a lot.
I am not here to try and change anyone's opinion but I am so tired of people calling leavers stupid and racist it does hurt because for myself I can't speak for anyone else I'm not a racist, I am not stupid.
Someone has just responded saying it's a load of crap I fell that is not a required response but hey it's their opinion I'll take it on the chin.

IvanaPee · 29/03/2019 15:13

I shouldn’t laugh. Call it macabre humour. Wtf will future generations make of this shit show??

Langrish · 29/03/2019 15:34

Kko1986

Equally fed up with being called metropolitan elite. Ha! If only 😁

BIWI · 29/03/2019 15:37

@ContinuityError

Ah yes. Thanks for your correction!

IvanaPee · 29/03/2019 15:38

Kko, you haven’t given one good reason as to why you think leaving is a good idea!

Langrish · 29/03/2019 15:40

IvanaPee

I shouldn’t laugh. Call it macabre humour. Wtf will future generations make of this shit show??”

Wtf indeed. Jumping over a cliff edge is feeling increasingly like an attractive option (real, not metaphorical) 🤯

BIWI · 29/03/2019 15:42

Do you know? I have no desire to paint any Leaver stupid, ignorant or racist.

But they keep doing it themselves.

Very few of them can outline any coherent or meaningful vision of what they thought they were voting for, beyond the sunny uplands of when we were the pink on the global map. All seem to presume/accept that it will be 'a bit tough' for a few years after we leave the EU, but without being a able to articulate what that means, or who it will hurt the most, or when - most importantly - it will be over.

It's also difficult for a lot of leavers to talk about Brexit without mentioning immigration. Or 'mass immigration' to name what I've been reading recently. And how it's somehow harming the country.

Add to that the generally woeful spelling and grammar (oh yes, I know we should never go there on MN as that makes us nazis Hmm) of the Brexiteer posts.

So persuade me, leavers.

ApricotExpat · 29/03/2019 15:43

NEVER

anniehm · 29/03/2019 15:44

No, dreaming of revoking article 50 here! My constituency voted remain too.

Kko1986 · 29/03/2019 15:47

@ivanapee nice username by the way I've given some reasons why I have this opinion. I feel it wouldn't matter what I came out with it wouldn't be good enough and I admire your resolve. I admire your passion.
I am a leave and I won't be changing my mind I haven't heard anything that makes me think differently. Can we all please try and stop being rude to each other. Everyone's opinion is valid. Those who voted leave. Those who voted remain. Those who chose not to vote.

IvanaPee · 29/03/2019 15:50

Kko, that’s your perogative but please stop with the peace and love stuff.

It’s coming across as a bit simpering. This is the biggest political shitstorm in years, arguably ever. It deserves robust discussion.

And when people have voted leave for wishy-washy half baked reasons, it’s more than a little frustrating.
