..to have left DH at the mercy of the creature under the bed

Fast asleep. Awoke to the sound of cat thumping onto floor (i stupidly left lower window open). A moments silence is followed by frenzied scuttling around the room. More silence. Then manic attacking of the bottom of the bed under the silky throw.
I grabbed phone and turned screen on to gloomily light the room(DH is still obliviously snoring)
Cat is frozen, staring under bed in stealth mode.
Decision time..to put my feet on the floor even though i dont know whats there or if its going to get me.(momentarily transported back to every childhood nightmare)
Leap off bed and into hall. Run upstairs n get DS2 to come down & look for evil bed monster. DS2 explains it would be easier to waken DH and turn light on. Decide DS2 is probably more sensible than me right now as he is not freaking out in the slightest.
Turn light on and waken DH..
DH is half asleep but agrees to look..says we dont need DS2 to help...DS2 leaves but DH rolls over n goes back to sleep Hmm.
Cat is still stalking bed monster.
I have lured cat out with ham and put it out
I have had to text DS1 and ask if i can sleep in his bed. He has offered to sleep on couch whenever he decides to come home.
AIBU not waking DH up properly and leaving him at the mercy of the catch of the day? How do i track down alive/dead thing tomorrow? Aarrgghh!!

Why have you lured the cat out? Put the cat back to deal with it and get dh to clean up any remains when he wakes up.

Oh and unless you have closed that window you may have more than one.

Teagoanngoanngoann · 28/03/2019 02:06

Window is closed. Cat has now gone Confused , most likely as u say, to find a friend for his mate under the bed. No idea why i lured cat out. I can only admit that when i freak out i lose the ability to think rationally and wanted cat with me in case i got chased by..... the thing!!!

It'll be spiders. Or birds. Do you like Alfred Hitchcock films ?

Boredgiraffes · 28/03/2019 02:10

Yep you need to plan your husbands obituary now, I would suggest something along the lines of “the epic monster chased me out of the room, but he fought on with his snores until his last breath”

Topseyt · 28/03/2019 02:23

I'd have left the cat in there. They have very good night vision and will catch whatever it is far more easily than you will. Most cats will anyway.

My cat was extremely fast and nimble with this sort of thing when he was a youngster.

Monty27 · 28/03/2019 02:28

Spider. It'll be ok. Smile

Teagoanngoanngoann · 28/03/2019 02:36

Lol..The birds terrified me as a child!! .. it was a bird last time and i swore i would never leave window open again. Woke up to sound of what i thought was velcro on a shoe constantly ripping apart...but then it sounded squelchy!! So here we are again !
DH is probably having best nights sleep in ages in a giant bed on his own without me coughing ans spluttering every 2 mins ( i have a cold.. sorry flu according to DH...manflu Grin)
Maybe him n the cat are in on it together Grin.
Will be keeping both cats with me tomorrow when i pull bed apart Hmm

We had a wood pigeon under the bed once. Not a common pigeon, you must understand that we are all posh round here.

Boredgiraffes · 28/03/2019 03:07

@brizzlemint my god that is still common, we once had a eagle under our bed, not just any eagle a golden one 😂

brizzlemint · 28/03/2019 03:13

We well had a swan from Buckingham Palace under our bed but one doesn't like to brag.

Verynice · 28/03/2019 03:17

It's a ghost. Cats can see them.

Boredgiraffes · 28/03/2019 03:22

@brizzlemint I’m calling the queen, close personal friend. You do know all swans are hers, you’ve just admitted high treason...

brizzlemint · 28/03/2019 03:23

How do you know that ghosts can see cats? Or cats can see ghosts for that matter? Is it only ghosts of mice that they can see?

why I am scaring myself like this?!

brizzlemint · 28/03/2019 03:24

@boredgiraffe I am the Queen. You are just jealous because your giraffe is bored whereas my giraffes have the whole palace grounds to entertain themselves in.

Boredgiraffes · 28/03/2019 03:27

@brizzlemint ffs your corgis hate you, I’ve been adopting them one by one through an organised corgi underground escape route

brizzlemint · 28/03/2019 03:32

You're welcome to them, they all have worms.

Boredgiraffes · 28/03/2019 03:33

Sorry op and your under the bed monster, I may have derailed this thread. I hope your husband survives the night 😂

Boredgiraffes · 28/03/2019 03:35

@brizzlemint thank you for the entertainment your majesty 😂

brizzlemint · 28/03/2019 03:35

Yes, sorry from me too OP. Well....sort of! Grin

WheelyCote · 28/03/2019 04:52

OP have you found out whats under the bed?

Nodnol · 28/03/2019 05:10

What’s under the bed probably found her...

Boredgiraffes · 28/03/2019 05:14

If and when I response comes, ask for a code word, or the under the bed monster will come for you next!

thislido · 28/03/2019 05:43

Pfft, wood pigeon. Lidocat's first trophy was someone's racing pigeon, complete with its tag, but unfortunately minus its head.
