To be terrified

Doctor said I had high potassium (6.6) but that my kidneys were fine. Now doing a retest but terrified it will come back higher and I will be admitted to hospital. If it isn't kidneys then what's the problem? Googling has terrified me with talk of heart disease and cancers 😢

Raised potassium can also be caused by certain medications .

PinkGlitter123 · 02/04/2019 07:30

Problem is I don't think I would have had a call as I didnt the last time.

I am petrified. 😢😢😢.

Why are you so scared of having to go in to hospital? 'Being called in' 'asked to go in 'and 'petrified of a and e'. All your posts are full of this.

Are you afraid of something that has already happened? What happened you?

Lots of things can be treated at home. Nobody is going to force you to go to hospital or a and e. Have you a good gp?

I hope you get some answers soon and make a full recovery. Best wishes.

I have a severe hospital phobia/health anxiety and had some bad experiences with my current illness.
I wish I could take some heart from knowing I have had no call as yet but I know I didn't last time so can't relax.

Did you get your results? I hope all is OK.

PinkGlitter123 · 02/04/2019 21:41

No, haven't been answered, left voicemails and emails, nothing.

I know it was mentioned that the lab would call with a high reading last time but they didn't. My consultant will have the result by now easily so I just don't know what's going on.

Well, if it was anything urgent, they'd have called you by now.

PinkGlitter123 · 02/04/2019 22:02

They didn't before though Motoko. My consultant is too laidback and overworked. Even if he saw saw sky high result I doubt he would act on it until he was less busy

Have you posted about a different issue which also led to huge anxiety before? Your posting style is ringing some bells. Apologies if not - as PP have pointed out they would have called you in by now if needed.

I hope you can get some help for both your potassium levels and your health anxiety.

PinkGlitter123 · 02/04/2019 22:23

No, not me.
I hope its just a case of them putting me on some tablets and adapting my diet rather than anything more drastic.

I have to disagree though. I once had a calprotectin (Sample that measures inflammation in the stool) which was over 3000 (meant to be under 50) and I didn't get a call at all. Same goes for my first potassium test which wasn't reported to me until I had a consultation the next week.

Can you ring the GP or the secretary and ask for the results?

JellycatElfie · 04/04/2019 11:54

Any results OP?
