Could have been flirting or could’ve just got it wrong. I once sat next to a woman at a dinner party who cut up my meat while talkin to someone sitting to her other side. She clocked what she was doing and was mortified. Apparently she had 7 children and was on automatic pilot.

No problem! It was my first ( and only)experience of a Formal at an oxford college. I felt out of my depth till then, but after that I relaxed.

I cannot abide people putting food in my mouth for me. Not at all.

Even hate the notion of them putting the food on a fork/ spoon for me. I will decide what goes in my mouth!

I probably wouldn't even do that to a close friend, and definitely not my hand directing the fork into their mouth. I'd maybe load up my fork and then pass the entire fork to a colleague if I was close with them.
