How can I find out if an Instagram account was created by DD?

My 14 year old has a main Instagram account which I know about. However, DD’s best friend has told her mum (my friend) that DD has also created another account with a rather inappropriate name and my friend has told me about it. However, she doesn’t want me to tell DD that I found out from her as her DD asked her not to say anything and she doesn’t want her DD to stop communicating things like this. I understand that because my DD sometimes tells me things about her friend which I feel her mum needs to know about and we normally handle any issues between us.

I’ve found the account in question but can’t find anything linking it to DD. Any ideas how I can find out if it was created by her? How do I broach the subject without revealing my source? I really want the account to be deleted.

Could you just report it to Instagram? I'm not sure how it works but often if they are unsuitable it is possible to get them to take it down

If you have her phone and/or access to her instagram account you can go to Profile and Switch User.

If you can't do this, then I think your only choice is to ask her outright.

Watch and wait? At some point the poster will probably put up something with a background or location that you recognise. Then you have the evidence to act.

Failing that if there's anything inappropriate in the content you can probably report it to Instagram.

Ask friend to ask daughter to show her the acc to verify it is your daughter?
Create another insta acc and add this particular 1?
Ask her outright?
Check her phone?

Thanks. There are some followers (her friends) but no posts. I’ll keep an eye on it. I think she’s just doing it for a joke but it’s not appropriate.

Its very easy to create another email acc so they can use various diff names etc to create the acc. You need to know the email address used and to see if DD has access to the email.. ( insta needs a valid email to set up an acc/page)

Is it a private account? I have an account and can follow it and see if it posted anything if it helps.
You can dm the name

Adding a random stranger following into the mix probably isn't the best course of action.
Can you check her phone, if you click the profile and then name at the top of her profile it will show if she's signed into any other accounts
