Another vote for really overdone broccoli Grin

Thisnamechanger · 26/03/2019 14:31

I also make sandwiches with crisps in them then squash them.

My DH is a brilliant cook, but then under does toast so it’s just like weird, hard, stale bread 🤮 And cooks sausages so gently that they look boiled and the skin sort of stretches and breaks when you bite🤮 he says I cremate sausages, and that no food should crackle when you eat it! Gross. My mums roast potatoes are always pale and certainly cooked through, but no crunch. Mine have a sort of shell. I cook lots of things with the same principle as steak, quickly and on high, then let it rest and sort out the inside with residual heat.

CheshireChat · 26/03/2019 14:31

DS, is that you Grin?

Mind you, I like my toast warm, dislike any hint of blackness unless it's on a barbecue.

Thisnamechanger · 26/03/2019 14:32

Sausages actually burnt on the BBQ are heaven. Ditto red pepper and re onions.

Cheese on toast. If the smoke alarm hasn’t gone off then it hasn’t been grilled for long enough! And yes, to crumpets and bacon.

Bluntness100 · 26/03/2019 14:36

Another one for Brussels sprouts here. My Italian grandmother would boil them then fry them in olive oil and garlic. God they were great, all the crispy bits were the best.

sackrifice · 26/03/2019 14:37

Everything tastes better with slightly overcooked onions in it.

barbiegrl · 26/03/2019 14:38

Sausages have to be burnt or I won't eat them

dustarr73 · 26/03/2019 14:42

Mushrooms are the only thing i have to have overcooked.Otherwise they just taste and look like slimy snotsEnvynot envy

GruciusMalfoy · 26/03/2019 14:42

Oh yes, roasted red onions that have started to blacken and go crispy, yum!

ILikeyourHairyHands · 26/03/2019 14:45

There are few things worse than a flaccid crumpets.

73kittycat73 · 26/03/2019 14:48

Fried eggs. I love the crispy bits around the edges. In fact, I do all my foods overcooked. Boil vegetables to death, and pasta too. Smile

AdamNichol · 26/03/2019 14:49

Bacon should be near obliterated. Yet, I like my toast to have only been somewhere near a toaster - in the same post code will suffice.

Bartlebysleftshoe · 26/03/2019 14:51

Sorry OP, not the things that you have mentioned- I like Broccolli almost raw, with bite. Overcooked veg is slimy & boak.

However- the burnt crispy bits on the edge of a Lasagne ....mmmmmmm the best! (Cauliflower Cheese & Macaroni Cheese too for that matter!)

Roast Potatoes should be crunchy & hard so they can go soggy in thick gravy.

BeefTomato · 26/03/2019 14:52

Oh my goodness roasted cauliflower, absolutely cremated! It's like a mixture of sweets and crisps!

Also: brussels, broccoli and potatoes.

LuxuryWoman2018 · 26/03/2019 15:13

Almost everything for me needs to be 'well done' soft veg, roast meat that falls apart, crispy potatoes and pizza just almost burnt.
Steak would be my exception.

onlyhereforthefood · 26/03/2019 15:18

All potatoes and crumpets for sure, oh and roasted veg, pasta bake and anything involving melted cheese.

Frizzcat · 26/03/2019 15:21

Salmon, crispy skin. Fucking hate flabby flaccid salmon

MereDintofPandiculation · 26/03/2019 15:22

Brussels sprouts, boiled not roasted - they have to be well done to bring out that sulphurous taste.

happyhillock · 26/03/2019 15:25

Meat don't like pink meat, also veg like them soft

CrisisMummy · 26/03/2019 15:30

Aubergine.

Potatoes.

donajimena · 26/03/2019 15:31

Toast. Needs to have a tinge of black.
Bacon. Crispy so you can snap it.
Sprouts boiled to death.

Happyspud · 26/03/2019 15:33

YABU. Over cooked by definition means cooked beyond the point of deliciousness. Which is not what you’re talking about. I think you mean ‘well done’ or ‘well browned’ or even ‘almost burnt’.

LazyFace · 26/03/2019 15:34

I recently discovered if I want a 'take-away tasting' curry, I just have to cook the life out of it.
